    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hello there Texas Rose and welcome aboard to our happy family here in Any Soldier~I was a girl scout leader for a long time and we were very involved with writing and supporting our troops~We even had a unit send us a American Flag they dlew over in the midwest~That was so Awesome~It was a great learning tool for the giel scouts in teaching them service and to appreciate all that these men and women do~When one of them came home he came to a Bridging ceremony and presented the girls all a small token from him to them for all his appreciation~What a memory that was and I will always cherish~Now I have my 8 year old twins starting to write letters with their cub scouts and oh how they love to help out~ Of course you know how much the military love Girl scout cookies~

Thanks again for all you do in helping all our troops!!

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Greetings Heidi,  I have my own company here along the Susquehanna River.  I am very fortunate to be able to investigate one of the biggest Susquehannock towns along the river (36-la-8). It is dated to 1605 and has an estimated population of over 3,500.  The reason I began this investigation last year was because no one had ever found the western wall to the village. Last year I dug a few test pits where I thought I might run into a few features (where we thought we would run into the western wall) and got real lucky! I mapped over 111 post molds over a few months of following the first post mold feature. This area along the river has a multitude of cultures and represents every culture we ever studied! This place is amazing to say the least. You can put a trowel in anywhere and dig to your hearts content. My favorite cultures to investigate are, 'Paleo and Woodland."~ Oh and of course those Transitional people who made all those broad spears. I guess when you start uncovering all those cultures ~ any prehistoric evidence makes my day!

Regarding our troops ~ I have come up with an archaeological concept for our troops that will be finalized this week. I'll let you know the details, by Friday.

Remember to wear you pins and fly our flag!

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hello from Texas. I am new to anysoldier and care packages so I am ready to jump in with both feet. My name is Sheila and I home school my kids as of mid last year. In public school the kids did a daily journal and they really don't care to do it again this year so as we went over our options we thought we would try writing soliers instead. They get the same writing practice while doing something they enjoy, plus it makes one lesson that much easier. We want to help our soldiers as much as possible and hopefully letters to the ones who get no mail will boost some spirits, no soldier goes unloved but we want them to know that as well. I hope to learn alot through this so that I can get more packages out as I go along.

    THanks, Sheila

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

We hope to do a little bit of good, although no matter how much we do we will still feel there is more. So we will just keep upping our efforts and prying to make a difference. Thanks for the welcome and these do seem to be great boards.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hey there Vineyard!

You need to update your posting on the anysoldier website... It says you haven't checked in for more than 50 days. And therefore the site recommends people stop sending. UGH!

I also noted that you've only had 9 requests for your address... so I requested it today and will add you to my list.

You'll be getting letters and packages until January... which will give stop by before your redeployment.

IF you have special requests you cn email me once you get your first box, which will contain my contact info.

    TAKE GOOD CARE!
    Anna
