Hi my name is Lucia, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Spain, yes I know maybe it's a bit weird but here I am. I want to support the troops and I think I can't find a  better way to do it

Here in Spain I couldn't find anything similar, besides my friends and family always say that I was born in the wrong country because I'm proud of be spaniard but since I was a kid I always loved and admired the States so much...

I have some doubt like what I should send in my first shipment, a letter? A package?  And if I send a package how many things I have to send? I'll try to find the right place to ask it.

I'm really excited about all that, it's just me or it's normal?

Hello Lucia, Welcome to the sight. Glad to have you hear. Spain is a beautiful country and so are the people of Spain. Everyone is very friendly and kind.

Don't worry you fit right in. Everytime I go back to Europe I fall in love with the country all over again so I understand liking other parts of the world. States is wonderful too.

With either sending a letter or package really your preference. myself I usually send a letter first introduce myself to the contact and what to expect in future letters and packages with my contact details just in case they want to write or request something other than what is posted. It also gives them a heads up. But either way you do things they will be happy you sent something. The soldiers are great and love everything.

It is normal to be excited. Please feel free to send me an email if you like. We also have a chat room that woman are great for answering all sorts of questions.

I still get excited each package I send out, still a little new. I have been sending packages since march.

Welcome Lucia! We are glad you decided to join AnySoldier. There have been several people who have joined recently from countries other than the USA - all are welcome because it's all about helping other people. And it's perfectly normal to be excited and feel really good when you send support. The more you read, the more you'll see that everybody gets a thrill from supporting the Soldiers.

If you are only able to write letters, that is wonderful. You'll notice that some posts mainly mention getting mail ( cards and letters) as their #1 reason for signing on. The Soldiers love to read about where you are and what you do - your pets, your job, your favorite stuff. If you decide to send items, then try to go by the requests. You don't have to send all of it. Just pick out a few things you can manage and send those along with a letter and include your Email so the Soldier can contact you directly if he /she is able. Every little bit helps - and the Soldiers realize that you have made an effort on their behalf and that shows that you appreciate their service.

Good Luck and have fun with this - they like jokes and silly things too.

I'm thinking in send a letter first and introduce myself also I thought I could send to the soldier in the same letter an envelope with my address paper and pen in case she or he needs something, but well I know they can send letters for free to the US but I'm not sure, to the rest of the countries too? Of course i'll add my e-mail to the letter but i was trying to make it easier to the soldier...

Hola, Luna Roja -  I'm not certain if our US troops get free mail to other countries or not.  Perhaps one of our troops who post here on the forum can answer that question.

I can try and find out about the free mail with one of my former soldier contacts. Will let you know when I get a reply back. Welcome aboard. The soldiers also loves postcards, cards, letters and even dail newspapers or magazines. They are just happy to hear from you and that we support them.

I will send you a personal email. Ask anything you like. If we don't have the answer we can try and get it for you.

 Welcome to the forum.  I am so glad that you have joined us and can keep us updated about Nick.  That's very nice of you to do since I'm sure that you are busy.  And Happy Anniverary!!!  Only sorry that Nick is not at home to celebrate the day with you.  I don't know if you heard in the background, but one day when I was talking to Nick when he was home on R&R, he described you as the perfect woman, the perfect mother, and perfect wife!  Can't get much better than that.  Anyway, talk to you later.
