Hey Jackie,
how are you?
Yeah I am an enthusiastic history student, would definitely love to keep in touch! Wow, it sounds like you've really done a lot of traveling. I think it's great that you feel so at home in the US and that you're getting into supporting the military. It certainly is a wonderful thing! Feel free to shoot me an email at any time, I always enjoy discussions.
God bless, kate :)

Hey Kate, Sorry about the spelling of your name, but it was different on the other e.mail.
Im so glad you got back to me. What era of history are you working on? I am always into Tudor, Elizabethan and now Georgian, I just read the Dushess. Also read Marie Antoinette, by Antonia Fraser, she does really good research. We visited some 11th century castles in Sicily, its facinating, they had quite a good toilet in the Kings chanber, which they would put nice smelling water after each use!!!!I really wanted to do the haunted tour at Hampton Court, but we had to leave before that. The tour guides said they had all had experiences there!!
When I read the e.mail from the soldiers,I feel so sad for them, I wish we could send something to all of them. We are sending off three boxes to Iraq and Afghanistan.God bless our military, they keep us all safe
E.mail me anytime.OK,Best wishes Jackie

Greetings from the chilly North! I am so glad I found this site! My name is Pam and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have a SO, one great daughter and one awesome son in law, (Army) who is currently deployed to Iraq. We are self employed as legal couriers. And obviously LOVE HOCKEY!
I really am a "newbie" so I'll keep it short. I found this site while attempting to send my son-in-law care packages. I couldn't believe the amount of helpful information that was here. Not only did I get great info but it made me think about the huge amount of support that our troops need and the response to that from this site. I only wish I could do half of what everyone here seems to do but hopefully I will be able to contribute something.
God speed to those deployed and Love ya Mike!

Andrew I know exactly where Cannock Chase is. Been there plenty of times it is a small world. We would go out with friends and hit the curry houses and pubs when we are out in England. The Englishman (hubby) I believe went to school at Cannock Chase Terrace. Not sure if saying it right. Yeah!! Our friends from England can't believe all the driving we do to go to places. They think 5 hours is a long way (drive to Chicago all the time). It is too cute when the comment! I lived near San Francisco area by the bay area (Pleasanton) at one point not near L.A. I have been to the LA area freinds there, there are nice spots of L.A. just got to know where to go. Canada does have beautiful parts we have been to Novia Scotia, montreal, Toronto and such. I will send you a private email so make sure to check it. Keep in touch. From across the pond.

Hi Danielle! (And Andrew...)
Make sure you post on the "Roll Call" thread to let everyone know where you are and are from. It is really fascinating to hear.
Danielle, I grew up in Hayward, worked in San Ramon, and still leave lots of my money in Pleasanton...shopping... ... Still have family in Danville & Dublin. Currently I live "over the hill" south of Tracy in Patterson. Small world, eh?
Andrew, my cousin lives in outside of Calgary, Alberta (although has also lived in B.C.) and her son was in the military up in/near Edmonton. Brian Green. Sorry I doubt you'd know him but just had to tell you. Now, whereabouts in the U.K. are you? I just love it there.

Hi Empress Francis. Still love that name.
I posted my info in "introduce yourself". But only had a few respond back. Didn't know about "roll call"
It is a small world. I know where Hayward is. San Ramon I lived there for a short while before Pleasanton when I was in Calif. Had friends in Danville and we would go out all the time. I used to work in Pleasanton. It was a nice area and loved the nice weather miss it all the time. If we wanted snow we would drive a couple hours out.
Now live in michigan at the moment and don't have to drive anywhere to have snow. LOL. Nice area and the people here are also very friendly as well.
Where Andrew is a very picturesque countryside of England. The only thing I get nervous about when I am there is the one road country lanes driving on the wrong side, and that everyone drives a mad man on and you don't even know if someone is coming the other way until you see there head lights. YIKES. Talk about getting your heart stopped. So you have to pull over in a ditch to let each other through. Even more scarier one is a bus!

My name is Donna. I "stumbled" across this website one evening about two weeks ago when I was trying to find a way to do something helpful for our service men and women. I've already 'adopted' a group of soldiers and have sent 4 pkgs and as many letters. I am very excited about this venture.
I am married -- 22 years -- and we have a 20 yr old daughter and 16 yr old son. Of course, there is also our little Yorkie who is my constant companion when I am not at work.
We live in Vancouver, WA, which is just across the Columbia River from Portland, OR, so that means we are currently enjoying "rain showers" and probably will continue to do so until next summer!
I'm looking forward to reading more posts on the forums and the emails from the soldiers -- I have shed more than one tear over some of them.....how could a person read what they are going through and not try to do something to ease their day.

Welcome Donna, sounds as if you are already a "junkie" in the making. Happens quickly here. You read a few posts, shed a few tears, read a bit more and all of a sudden you are , well...you can't walk into a store, see a sale, be reminded of an event without thinking "my soldiers" would like this, need this I'll get this just because... There are many wonderful, helpful people here . And please pop into the relatively new Chat room sometime. Looking forward to reading your posts Cheers Amy
Cheers, Amy

I'm finding out what you mean regarding walking into a store and seeing things for "my soldiers" -- I went in with the intent to buy a gallon of milk and came out with the milk, plus 40 "table football" games on clearance and a couple packages of beef & turkey bites that were on sale. I may have to get a part-time job in addition to my full time job in order to support this new venture! ha
If anyone lives by Albertsons store, check out their vitamin section. I have been finding them clearancing out at $.88/bottle.
