Welcome to the site Judy!  What a fun way to discover us.  Where was the cache you found located (the AS supporter who left it would probably love to know which one you got it from)?  I am so glad that the bracelet found a perfect home.  Please let your grandson know how much we appreciate his service when you get the chance to talk with him.   It is very hard waiting to hear from loved ones, especially when they are not well or hurting.  Here's hoping for his speedy recovery and continued good health for him!  And we thank you and your family for your sacrifices as well.  It is not easy being the family of the warrior either.  Please do come back often and discover more about AnySoldier and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hello Judy and welcome to Any Soldier. Please Thank your Grandson for serving this great country of ours. When he gets some R&R, that Arizona sunshine may be just the ticket for himJ . A few folks I’ve known, have run into this pneumonia problem - not an easy thing to deal with for sure. Breathing is the first essential of life! Also not easy to accept that it takes a chunk of time out of your life! But acceptance of that fact leaves you free to devote your energy to recovery. Had a little run in with it myself a while back. Pls know we wish a full recovery for your Grandson and will be praying for him and the rest of your family.

A girlfriend of mine’s son also had it at a very young age - in college. Recovery takes time, patience and working at it as the Docs and therapists keep telling youJ .

Breathing took a bit of time to come back and distance walking needed to be built up gradually. Muscle strength also had to be built up gradually. He had exercises for breathing, muscle strength and distance walking to do daily and multiple times a day. He did class work from home, lost a semester however, but continued school, graduated and eventually went into the law enforcement field. If you want to “talk” more, PM or email me thru that ‘Contact’ button up there on the bar.

    Take Care, Ann

PS Did you know the site has a chat room?

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Judy Hello!

    Welcome to the anysoldier family!

I have known some in basic to be profiled because of an injury. Some have started over again and one left the service. My daughter was profiled and it changed her service career. Your grandson may find some comfort in "Breathe Easy Tea" as it is like Ginger Tea and really helps with lung/breathing disorders. I have purchased it for people with COPD and I have received favorable responses that it really helps if taken just before sleeping, as it makes sleep less stressful by thinning congestion.

I am not sure if there is a way for him to get it in basic training but maybe a fellow soldier ( who isn't in basic ) in the office work area could.

Remember that misfortune does not always come to injure and he may just end up in a better situation because of it.

The ones that probably need as much prayer are his parents so you may consider putting everyone concerned on a prayer chain.

    Again, Welcome!

    Blessings, door

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

My name is Kimberly. I am 44. I had a stroke on 8/11/2005. I am a stroke survivor. I am currently working on my physical progress under physicians care. my younger brother died on active duty 8/27/2007 and is now buried in Arlington, VA. He was US Army and US Air Force. I miss him.

I am a Licensed Investigator and a Registered Process Server in Long Beach, California.

My family has many ties to the military. My Grandmother's Cousin was a member in the Doolittle Raid and she had another cousin by marriage who was a Blue Angel. We also have 2 relatives who signed the Declaration of Independence, George Ross and John Hart.

Supporting our troops through this site has been therapy for me. It brings me so much joy. I know my brother Matt is smiling on me from heaven. I will continue to support the contacts I have picked until they no longer need me.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hi. Kinda random, but I decided to join this site after I saw how clean and neat the forum boards. That's a rarity whenever I look for places. ..

But anyway. I'm seventeen, and because I don't feel comfortable giving out my real name online (only in some cases) it might take a while for me to come clean.

I'm a somehing-something in college, and a senior in high school at the same time. Planning on graduating this year, too. . . Soo. I hope that goes well.

But I love where this is and thanks for having me!

Welcome, Kimberly. This site is a wonderful resource for those who want to actively support our Warriors, as you have discovered! Sorry to hear of the loss of your brother Matt, but you are right, he's smiling on you and is proud of what you're doing for his brothers & sisters in arms. As for supporting the contacts you have picked until they no longer need you, that's the first step...I know you'll pick new contacts when the old ones come home!! It's what us Support Junkies do...LOL!

You are right. Supporting our troops is addictive. I think this is something I'll continue as long as I can.

Click on the "Edit Profile" link beside your username (It's right under the AnySoldier tabs). There is a tab that says "Avatars" that you click on, and once you get there, you click "Browse" to upload a picture from your computer. If you get a message that your file is too big, you can resize it and try again.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

New to the forum but not to AnySoldiers. I've been doing mailings for about about 8 months now and decided join because I still often have questions about what and how to ship. Extra tips and info will be greatly appreciated.

It was an "off the cuff" comment by my mom that finally explained why I love doing letters and boxes almost to the point of obsession. "It's because she spent so much time in the hospital", thats the comment.

I was born with a birth defect which kept me in and out of the hospital most of the first 13 years of my life. I've had my 3rd hip replacement now and I'm probably going to have the knee replaced before Christmas. I REMEMBER how I loved getting cards, some with money (think care package) my mom used to buy me a toy or some candy etc. Back then visits could only be made on the weekends so they didn't interfere with "hosptial" things.

Guess it's easy now to see why I love doing this soooo much.

Hello! My name is Jennifer and I'm new to Any Soldier. I am so impressed with everything this site represents and I'm completely addicted. I just made my first shopping trip, got my USPS customs forms and boxes and can't wait to get my first care packages sent off tomorrow morning. I'm a San Diego native. My father was was career Marine and served for 28years. I've never been involved with anything like this before and feel so compelled to be involved and help out those who do so much for us. To everyone taking part in this... you rock!
