    Mother's Day flowers from Iraq

When the UPS truck drove in the driveway, I was expecting the order of boxers for CSM Callaghan's Wounded Warriors.  Instead, one of our units of adopted grandchildren had sent flowers for Mother's Day - what a surprise!  They had been moving around and we hadn't heard from them since Feb., and had gone to the inactive list, so it was doubly surprising.  I will have to wait for their letter to write to them since we only had contact by snail mail, and I don't have their latest address.

It occurred to me that this is possibly a common thing since they can order them sent from over there, so I was wondering how many others have gotten the same surprise.

Gran!! That is just awesome!!!! You deserve it! I hope you hear from them soon so you can get back in touch, but not having heard from them makes it even more wonderful of a surprise!!! (As for me, I just received a wonderful Mother's Day card from my favorite Captain, and I was touched and thrilled Smile I haven't received flowers though! That's excellent!)

Hi Gran,  I too have gotten Roses on Mother's Day from a young Marine while he was deployed.  Totally blew me away and made me cry.  The next year I got them again, plus a darling stuffed puppy on Valentines Day and a sweet cocoa mug filled with goodies this past Xmas.  Still makes me cry.  He was there for 2 deployments and to think he took the time during all that chaos to think of me   WOW . . .   Hopefully he won't have to go back.   My kids I expect something from, but Doug's gifts were so very special,  I don't tell my kids that!  LOL

I'm really happy for your Gran, it'll be a really nice memory to file away for sure.

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!    Anita

Well, step one is done - I have the picture in the camera.  It's the next three steps that our son or granddaughter may have to help with when they come over later today for our Mother's Day cookout with our family (all except for our Iraq Vet grandson who is in another state Sad ) .   I haven't learned all the digital stuff yet.

    Hi Gran,

That is just soo cool that they sent you flowers for Mom's Day.  What a beautiful surprise for such a wonderful lady.  To all of our junkies who are Mommies--Happy Mother's Day.

Oh, and Gran, if you do use the picture for your Avatar, could you teach me how to put in the avatar.  I cannot figure it out for the life of me (tee hee).Huh?

What a heart felt gesture from your "kids" or "grandkids" that you will remember a long time.  How thoughtful of them to honor you in such a lovely way.  Happy Mother's Day to all you  Mothers.   I wrote a poem that I shared on Mother's Day at church a few years ago.  I need to find it and share it on here somewhere.  Basically it said, you don't have to give birth  to children, to be  a Mother.  It's your actions of caring that can make a big difference in someone's life.
