    Re: Contacts getting overlooked?

I went looking for a contact with females today and found one supporting over 500 folks (both men/women), with only 39 (now 40) requests.  Please keep these folks in mind too... as we list "overlooked" contacts.  I know it has been mentioned before about the # of requests vs. # folks being supported, but I think it bears repeating.  My heart sank when I found this conctact...  and there are many more like him....

List of 5 or Fewer Times Requested Update

I went back and looked at my list of contacts registered on or before 9/28/07 who were requested 5 or fewer times as of 10/7/07. Actually I was surprised at how many there were on the original list: 13 requested 5 or fewer times, and 8 requested 4 or fewer times. As of 10/19/07, out of the original 13 “5 or fewer times requested” contacts, 7 moved up 1x, and 2 moved up 2x; 4 remained at 5. Of the original 8 “4 or fewer times requested” contacts, 1 moved up 1x, 3 moved up 2x, 2 moved up 3x, 1 moved up 4x, and 1 remained at 4.

I don’t know what more I can do to help. I am maxed out supporting soldiers from Ft. Sill, where my son is stationed. It makes me depressed to see how many soldiers need more support than they are getting. I don’t think I want to do this list on a continuing basis.

Maybe we just take a deep breath and trust God to take care of them.  Remember, many of these groups are supported by other organizations, not just AS.  I know that is how I came to AS, my contact from another organization was listed here and I liked the way AS was run better than the one I had been with so I made the jump.

Plus, I'm sure TreatAnySoldier is monitoring these posts and are quietly sending support to these groups as well  Wink

    Jo,

I'm sure your units can feel the "love" you pack between the items in your care packages!

Gerald J. Duval posted today, Oct 22, that his unit hasn't received any support.  He has been requested only 12 times since joining July 14.  I'm about to make it 13.

Re: List of 5 or Fewer Times Requested Update

PFC Wayne J. Pinkston has been requested only 14 times since he was added 07/15/07.  While he doesn't say they haven't received anything, from what he does say I'm concerned they may not have received much.

I appreciate your having done it now.  I will try to do this periodically again once my wrist is better, and there are some other folks around here who try to keep watch and alert us to overlooked soldiers now and then, also.  So don't feel that you have to keep on indefinitely.  Ya done good already!

Re: List of 5 or Fewer Times Requested Update

I just did a quick check to see those requested 5 times or less, whose most recent post was October 1 or before. The good news is that there were very few, and some of those are actually not asking for easy things (as in Xbox etc). Maybe once these guys catch up we can look from a smaller time frame. I figured this way is very manageable and whatever I hope it helps. We still probably just need anecdotal mention when there are those larger groups with minimal support (like 150 and requested 8 times or whatever)

     I only found:

    Christine Mayo (4,3) posted 9/19

    Yolanda Wilmel (5,1) posted 9/24

    Marlon Green (10,10) posted 10/1

    Kenyarta Stathums  (4,2) posted 10/1

Re: List of 5 or Fewer Times Requested Update

Take a look at Sgt Nicholas W. Holman.  He was added on 01/28/07, and has been requested 184 times as of today 10/28.  However, in his 09/17/07 update he mentions that they hadn't received anything in quite some time, despite the large number of people who requested his address.
