    Return email is rejected.

I got an email yesterday from Scott Waterman, the first I'd received since my earliest boxes. I emailed him back, but today I got an email saying that it didn't go through. This happened before. What is going on? Help!  Mellie

Besides checking the address for typos (blah-blah-blah) sometimes access is shut down. I've had it happen to me: bounce back, go through, bounce back - not work at all, work again, bounce back etc.  I just begin again - and write some hardcopy as well.  Good luck.

    Re: Return email is rejected.

    Hi,

This has happened to me before also--unfortunately, my contact later told me that e-mail was shut down temporarily because of a casualty in the unit.   Sad   No one was allowed e-mail until the soldier's family had been notified of the death.  I don't know if that is standard policy, but it is the explanation I was given. I'm sure there are other reasons as well that e-mails don't go through....let's hope that's the case this time!!

    Re: Return email is rejected.

It is standard policy for email to be shut down when there has been a casualty in the unit. Shut down can last several days. I have also experienced shut down during hieghtened security times.

One other thing.....make sure that you have something written in the subject line. Mail for the .mil ids will generally be rejected without the subject line populated as a virus protection measure. If recipients are using an internet cafe to pull their mail, email sent to their private (non-military) ids will also require the subject line be populated.
