    Kool-aid

Hello!  When you send out the Kool-aid packs are they the ones with sugar or without?  I see the little ones in the stores all the time but I don't think they have the sugar included.  Am I correct?  Which would you think would be best?  As you can tell, we're not a kool-aid family!Cool

    Re: Kool-aid

You want to look for the kool-aid to go sticks in the box. You can pretty much get them anywhere from the grocery store to Wal-mart or even Walgreens. I believe they come 10 to a box and they already have sugar added. They look very similar to the crystal light to go packs......small sticks of powder and you just tear it open and pour it in a bottle of water. I had a little trouble finding them at first, but what I did was go to Sam's and buy the big canister (makes 64 quarts) that is already sweetened. I shipped the canister and sent along some of those small storage boxes (Glad or grocery store brand) so the guys in the detachment (13 of them) could fill their little storage tupperwares/ boxes. I sent the smallest size I could find so they could pack them in their rucksacks. When I found the kool-aid to go boxes on sale at Wal-Mart, I cleaned out the shelf to make sure I had them on hand when I needed to send some. Hope this helps!

    Re: Kool-aid

I prefer to send the Kool-Aid Singles.  They come 16 packets to a box.  They are made with sugar instead of artificial sweetener.  Some of us have adverse reactions to Aspartame, so I lean toward plain old sugar.  Besides, I get more of these for my money.  They are a great size for stuffing into tight spots in boxes.  I always try to include a variety of flavors.

    Re: Kool-aid

I tend to send a mix of sugared and sugarfree. There are some diabetics over there, and the dentists are telling the others the sugar isn't good for their teeth. They can mix it up with both and limit whatever is troublesome.

I also send a mix of the drink mixes in large containers (i.e., Country Time lemonade and the store brand Kool Aid type mixes). These have sugar, and I can get more for my money than the single serve packs. I send the single serve packs too. They do go on sale fairly often and are even at the Dollar Tree.

If you send the large containers, you can send a funnel to aid them in dumping it into their water bottles without a mess.

Hello! I think that it depends on which package you get. Some come sugar-free and some come with sugar, it just depends on what the boxes say. The little packages are probably the best to send because then the soldiers don't have to worry about how much to put in an individual bottle of water... As for which type of kool-aid to send (sugar or non-sugar) maybe you could try sending a mix?

    Wylers

I think I may have read an entry earlier about this, but at my age, can't remember.  I found Wylers on sale 50 single pkts for $5.00 and bought some.  Sent two boxes off yesterday with a letter requesting that the soldier PLEASE BE HONEST ABOUT THE TASTE.  Told him (he's one of my penpals) that I don't want to waste money on things that the soldiers don't like.

Anyone have feedback on the Wylers Lemonade and Raspberry pkts?

I don't know about the powder, BUT, I know the freezer pop Italian Ice is great and loved by the troops, so I am thinking the powder might be good too...

    Re: Wylers

I've tried the Wyler's Lemonade and one other flavor (maybe it was raspberry, I can't remember...) and I liked it. I've tried the lemonade in just about every brand that makes lemonade, and they've all been good - some just a bit sweeter and/or more lemony than others.

I use the individual sugar-free drink mixes every day, so I've tried all the different brands that I've found, and there's only one I didn't like: Water Sensations, Kiwi Strawberry. It's a liquid instead of a powder. I didn't like the flavor at all. Otherwise, all the rest are great, IMO!

    Re: koolaid packets

I send the koolaid packets and they are great BUT look at the serving size, one packet only sweetens 8oz instead of 16 oz like the crystal lite packets. I just don't like that the aspertame goes bad in heat. I want to find stuff with splenda in it for those who want it without sugar. I have also sent sugar and koolaid packets with the tools to make it yourself, more for guys who are closer to base.

    Re: Kool-aid

Since I usually send Hubby out to look for what I give him a list for, I haven't thought about Tang, and there have been a lot of requests for it over the last few years.  What kind of containers does that come in - does anyone know?  I haven't checked.

Tang comes in a plastic tub, much like  Country Time Lemonade. Don't know if Tang has singles, as haven't sent in more than a year. More than likely they do by now.
