    Question about BBQ Wood Chips

Just curious - I have a group of guys who only have a BBQ grill to cook on.  Does anyone know if there is any problem sending Mesquite and Pecan wood chips?  They are just wood chips from World Market.  No lighter fluid, nothing combustible, no smell... just plain wood you throw in the coals to flavor meat. I'm sure it improves the ambiance, too.

I've just never sent anything that unusual before, so I'm just wondering if anyone else ever has, or if there would be any problems with it.

    Thanks.

Like you say, as long as you're not sending lighter fluid, anything combustible, then I would think you would be fine.  Just to be on the safe side, you could call them at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).  You can see the information of restricted items online at http://pe.usps.gov/text/pub52/welcome.htm

Re: Question about BBQ Wood Chips

Thanks, George - I actually think they would be fine to ship.  I ended up leaving them out of the box ("when in doubt...."), but that was okay, because it left a little more room for some other things that I *knew* we safe to send.  I'm going to use the bag I bought in my own grill and make sure there's nothing in them besides wood.  If not, I am pretty sure they are fine to send.
