    Re: Got Afghanistan contacts?

If anyone is interested in news about the Marines 24 MEU in Afghanistan (and sometimes 2/7) check out this blog-

    http://fromafghanistan.encblogs.com/

The wife (who is a reporter) of a Marine is embedded with the 24 MEU in Afghanistan. She has the most up to date information. Also gives insight into the conditions in Afghanistan. Just a thought.

Looks like things are really heating up in A'Stan. Scary stuff. If you have contacts there, this is a good time for a little extra attention.

I have a contact in Afghanistan also. He's been very busy they've had to really step up more than they are used to. He said, "It reall sucks because I don't have enough time to write you now...."

    Hi Everyone

Please take a look at the recent requests from the Brigade that just arrived from Alaska.  There are many without access to a px to buy simple things such as hygiene items.  You can tell from what they are asking for that life is not the same for all in Afghanistan.

First, welcome to the forum Airbornedocmom!  There are many wise people on here that can help.  (I just sit and read their wisdom :)

Now, back to the group that needs help...  Do you have a particular point of contact that can be used so I can help out?

Thank you for the warm welcome.  I don't have a particular contact for you.  I just wanted to bring attention to this light infantry abn Brigade that has just begun their deployment in the far east Paktika province.  Many are in remote areas with little support.  Just look for the soldiers from Alaska in Afghanistan that are there till early 2010. My soldier is there, but he has not signed up and probably isn't aware of this site yet.  I just know there are some of these guys that are really out in the boonies and need support.

    Re: Got Afghanistan contacts?

When I searched Army units from Alaska in Afghanistan I came up with 48 names. I narrowed it with the use of remote and came up with just 3.  All are there until 2010.

Garcia, SPC Hector 06 Mar 30/0 Afghanistan
    Army
Hinkkanen, SSG Jacob 15 Mar 6/0 Afghanistan
    Army
Redmond, SGT Jeff 05 Mar 40/0 Afghanistan
    Army

Hinkkanen was with Airborn linfantry from Alaska last time he was in Afghanistan so he might still be with that unit.

Lots of people here send support to Afghanistan.  As a matter of fact, some got so much support we were asked to stop sending stuff for a while  :)  That is a good problem to have, but it looks like we have some new feet on the ground that could use some help.  I will see what I can do.

Oh, and by the way, thank your soldier for me.

I found a few more....My son just got his internet so I'll see if he has a way to get word to the platoon leaders or medics.  I think platoon leaders or medics are good contacts for the infantry guys who are out in the boonies.Perron, Nicholas  .....Rail, Frank   .......Salter, Zachary ....Pena, Edgar  .....Pumphrey, Mathew

Thanks....I'm still finding my way around this website.  It seems really awesome.  I wasn't aware of this site during the last deployment.

Thank you to whomever is the admin and moderaters.

Welcome, you've come to the right place to get support for A-Stan.   Many of the ones I've been supporting are close to heading home or have in fact headed out so I picked up a new one last week, they are from AK.  If your son can get them to sign up they will be well taken care of in no time.   When you have contact with him again please pass along our thanks, and to all your family.  I think you will find lots of great info here as well as being able to share with us how we can best help his group.
