    Hi

I just got an e-mail from my son, looks like some packages started coming through finally, they are just trying to sort it now.

A day late, but still good for them.  They can have a boxing day Christmas.

If any of you would like to take the time to look through a lot of photos taken in Afghanistan, there are 365 here:

    http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Afghanistan/ss/events/wl/08072001afghanistan/im:/081223/480/062a536f3e8e4132b0635cf46e3f023b/#photoViewer=/081228/ids_photos_wl/r1469466580.jpg

There are MANY taken over Christmas and you might be able to see your soldier.  Keep in mind there are also photos of Allied troops, political photos, photos of injured civilians, street life, soldiers on patrol, etc., but also many during Christmas Eve services and Christmas dinners.

Good luck in finding that special someone.  May the New Year keep them ALL safe until they return home.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

That's really nice!!  So how is it having that boy of yours home?  I have a request that I'm pretty sure others would like to be included in.  Would you please hug the stuffing outta him for us all?  And tell him how special he is to us all.

Ok, on to another matter for the general populace here.  I know it says in AS not to expect letters, but I've now sent over 60 boxes & I have not heard from ANYONE.  I don't know if they've even arrived.  I sent out the first group of 5 boxes Oct 28th...one would think I would have heard SOMETHING from somebody by now.  Don't mind me...just venting a little.

Hope everyone's had a safe & enjoyable New Year.  Just think...5 more months & they'll be headed home!  Does anyone know who their replacements will be?  I intend to continue supporting those outposts until none of our Americans are stationed there.

     Hugs to all!!

    Ann

    Big Hugs!
    Ann

The mail was held up big time for the guys in the korengal valley, it finally started getting through the KOP the day after Christmas. Then figure another couple of days for the guys at the more remote bases.  So.....maybe you may hear something soon.

give yourself a couple days of maybe waiting. spec clyde emmons took almost 4 days longer when he got to kuwait. seems they were waiting at every stop. good thing was when he got to atlanta a navy officer and his son gave clyde and another soldier coming to michigan their seats so they made it on xmas day. wish i could thank the gentleman. but was worth the wait.lol now we get him for his birthday on top of xmas. but goes quick. he leaves in 8 more days.

    Re: Afghanistan Christmas Photos

Just enjoy every second with Clyde, wish I could slow the clock down for you somehow.  A shame they get stuck at different plces along the way but it still counts in their time allotted for R&R.   What a nice thing that naval officer did for him and your family.

Ann I know it's hard not hearing anything, but at most of the firebases they don't have comp. access and outgoing mail is just about nil.  I sent to guys in the previous rotation for almost 15 months and barely had a cpl e-mails.  Even now I only hear from a cpl guys out of probably 15 different groups I mail to, but sometimes I hear from their Moms that the boxes got there.  From what I'm seeing  on here and from one reg. contact they had a huge backlog and really got an amazing armt the day before and during the week of Xmas, said they celebrated Christmas for a week.   If  you don't get the boxes back assume they got it, are enjoying everything, and just haven't had a chance to let you know.   When they do get the rare chance at a comp. for some strange reason they want to contact their wives/girl friends and Mom/Dad!!!   Can't understand it  LOL

No getting around it though, it is so great when you do hear from them, they probably don't have a clue how energizing it is for us to hear from them.      Happy New Year and happy packing everyone     Anita

Bob - hope that visit is great.

Ann - We send a lot of boxes, much of what is donated by people in our RV parks.  Sometimes I get replies, most often not.  There was a long spell with few replies (either e-mail or letters).  I was feeling a bit frustrated as I wanted to report back to friends.  More recently I have put an even stronger hint in my letter (must be the Grandma in me) and sometimes include my own handstamped post card, self addressed.  For some reason,  we have had a lot more replies in the past couple of weeks.
