Good eye! I couldn't tell what that was. I've sent many "burrito kit" boxes with tortillas, canned chili, rice pouches, salsa, squeeze cheese, jalapenos, and hot sauce. I've also sent a couple with M&M's included. I can only hope they make someone that happy. Those were really great pics.

     Angela,

Thanks for sharing the photos.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think these prove it.

Yes, but they are very expensive and not as widely available to all Troops. Some Soldiers/Families have bought them on their own, and from what I've seen it costs about $1/min for cards (info I've been given by donors who've purchased some for Troops). Over there they pay about $5/min when they buy cards for the same phones. Not all Soldiers have the resources to use those good Sat phones on much of a regular basis.

sorry but your wrong. satellite phones do not have signals everywhere. i have a friend who was in special services in Afghanistan and he always had a hard time with the mountains getting a clear signal. some1 misinformed you on how satellite phones work. you still must have a clear signal and in Afghanistan he would sometimes have to be at the very top of a mountain to get a signal. they are not magic.lol

Think of sat phones like sat TV --- DirecTv ---.    Directv advertises signal everywhere you can get a clear view of the southern horizon.     Thunderstorms, or thick clouds, forget it.     We have to listen to the radio.

    Hi!

1st Lt Glenn Burkey updated today (1st plt-Restrepo)

Also, the stop date for mail was mentioned to me as 4/15, not sure if that is accurate. I am going to use a cut off date of 3/31 just to be safe. The KOP has not received mail since last month. Firebase Vegas did have some of their mail delivered from the KOP about a week ago, but apparently there is still a back log.

Also, Youtube has links up that feature 3rd Platoon at Firebase Vegas.  Yes(nothing violent) I basically just scanned for the parts at Vegas, didn't really care about the actual report, but that's just me.

"In a new series Phil Rees explores the definition of what is a terrorist. In the first episode he asks if, following 9/11 the old adage of one man's terrorists being another's freedom fighter still holds up."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYvbf0NZCf4  1st part or search "Dining With Terrorists - Death of the Freedom Fighter"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7e_q_sXrPc  2nd part

Keep Viper Co in your prayers! The KOP was not able to get any water for showers or laundry for about 2 months. (they had drinking water) I don't know about you, but I would be VERY cranky after just 3 days! Super Angry

    Hope all is well!

    Joanne

I saw Burkey's post and it came just in time, I packed & mailed 4 boxes today to some new contacts in the area and have one about half packed for Restreapo and Vegas was next!!!    How great that Restreapo seems to have enough of everything after the TV shows.  Guess the media is good for something after all.  LOL

Anyone know if Vegas has an over abundence as well?  I saw the video, or the Vegas part anyway.  They have made some major changes there, nice to know improvements were made.

    Anita
