I too want to thank Bob and Mrs. Penich-Gaross for their sons' sacrifices.  My son Andrew has much admiration for both of these fine gentlemen and had a lot of interaction with them. They will always be apart of their company.   Our admiration goes beyond words.  We continue to lift you and your families up in prayer everyday.  May God ease your burdens and hold you tight in his loving arms.  We are all apart of your sorrow.  We love you and thank you so much.  This is a wonderful Army family.

    In Him,

Dianna (Andrew, my son, my hero)

    Kaylynn:

We need to keep in mind that the Department of Defense will make any official news release/s when the timing is appropriate.  (I think that is at defenselink.mil/)  In the past, we have had rumors and information spread on this website that can be very harmful to family members that need to be informed of these things through the proper channels.   Marty, please correct me if I am mistaken or out of line here.

I have no specific information at all about this.  Prayers for all...

Correct, we don't post or mention anything until it is posted by DoD at http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/.  No exceptions.

    Hello all,

Well, after we all heard the tragic news of Rick DeWater's death, I started reading the many news reports of his home and his new wife.   My  heart was aching for his wife Valerie as they were just newly married.   So, I went searching and finally found her.  We have emailed a few times.   The last email was so touching that I asked her if I could share it with the supporters on the Anysoldier website.   I explained to her that there were numerous people that support the KOP and some that new Rick and his unit.   I also told her that I didn't know Rick personally but felt I knew of him some through Bob's posts and chats.   She told me I could post her email for all of you.

I loved the hell out of him and the feeling was mutual which I'm sure if you talk to Bob you probably already know that. He wasn't just a hero because he was a soldier, he was a hero for showing what it mean't to love someone and that it still existed in the universe. He was a great soldier, husband, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, fisherman, mechanic, musician, and friend. I mean it when I say he was awesome. I thank you for your condolences and I wish you could've met him."

Tomorrow at 11:00 CST, the 3-1 ID will hold a memorial service at Ft Hood.  Rick DeWater will be one of the three fallen warriors memorialized.

Miss Ladybug and I will be there to pay our respects.  All of you and the thoughts you have posted in this forum will be on my mind and held in my heart.

Okay..who sent the pink undies? The story hit the Drudge Report

His parents didn't know about them. So I wondered if an Anysoldier person sent them. If so, you might want to contact AP and let them so they can include that in the story.

When I saw the photo that first day, I kept trying to figure out if it was really a soldier or just some reporter getting too close to the story!  *grin* I thought the reporter could have said something in the caption to indicate why SPC Boyd wasn't quite in full uniform....that might have caused a little less buzz for him! :) But talk about dedication---fighting in your boxers is not something I'd guess you'd expect you would ever be called on to do! Our guys rock.

Local news here in Dallas/Fort Worth reported he had bought them in when he became stranded in New York. I'm guessing at some airport gift shop.Smile My first thought was also that they were from someone with anysoldier.
