    Hi Bob,

It makes my heart happy that you were able to make this trip.  I think it was exactly what you and our boyz in the valley needed.  Good medicine (beer lol) for all of you.  Give them all a hug from me.  Enjoy the rest of your trip. I can't wait for the next installment of your adventure.

Re: Korengal Valley, Afghanistan - July 2008 edition

My family and I extend our deepest condolences. We too lost one of our own. My  brother is/was SPC Christopher Honaker, KIA 05 Jul 07, Watapor Valley Afghanistan. Able Co. 2/503rd Infantry, 173rd ABCT.

I know what pain you live with and I cannot say it ever subsides, our Soldiers are heroes despite how the media twists it. God bless all fallen service members and their families. I miss my Sky Soldier more than I could ever begin to explain, but take comfort in the possibility of the best angel in heaven watching over us.

    SSG Navarrette,

I am guessing that COP Honaker-Miracle was named partly in honor of your brother. I have been sending to a unit there who is returning in a few days. For every COP and FOB, I think of the namesakes and the men and women who go through there and don't come home or come home wounded physically or mentally. Much love and sympathy to you and your families. Thank you for posting here in support of other families. We can't begin to know the pain. Big hugs to you all.

God bless you and your family, SSG Navarrette.   I'm sorry for your loss of your brother.  Yes, I do believe you have  a special angel watching over you and your family.

My heart and tears go out to all the families of our fallen heroes,

As most here know, I lost my personal hero 15 apr 2009,

My son,  PFC  Richard  Dewater was taken way to soon.

He went in a boy, he died nothing less then a hero, a MAN !

I to know the pain of a loss such as this, I dont expect to EVER

    really recover from this.

Rick  and his little brother have always been my life, now my life is many things,

complete is really not one of them at this point.

    Yes, I know the pain.

    p.s

We do not have a special angel watching over us now,

We have many angels watching over us !

May the Lord hold and watch over our fallen heroes !!

Looks like traffic has trickled down, but I thought I'd poke my head in here.

Here are reviews of the Restrepo movie premier on Thursday nite at Sundance. Thanks for the tip.

    Oxman Hello!

Thank you for the link. I went and read the reviews. About the time of 10th Mountain Division was going home we learned of the 173rd Airborne in Korengal Valley, Thinking back of that time, I can't help but remember Ranae and her strong support for them, before her car accident. She kept those Kroger Executives reaching into their pockets for postage and kept a smile on my face with her supply drives at her store. We stayed strong in telling the world that our soldiers in Korengal needed to be known, to an unknowning public. Through many efforts over the years, it seems to have come, that the world is finally learning through film. We followed the 173rd through their tour of duty, suffering their losses and victories with them. Then it was our Fort Hood Soldiers that carried the weight. They told my daughter at Fort Hood that they knew they were going to a rough place. Our involvement with them and their parents kept us on edge, but strong in our support for them. Most recent is our Fort Carson Soldiers at Korengal and with loss there were times I couldn't talk to anyone and wondered if I had burned out with compassion fatigue. I continued my care packages to my contacts and I caught my second wind and returned to the forum, strong. I have watched many, leave us. My tears have flowed and I have cried and prayed for so many lives that ended, way too soon. I have prayed for their loved ones, to know that we do care. My sadness is nothing compared to that of these families members. I am in awe of their strength and pray for it daily.

This is about our Korengal troops, but it is also true for all I and my wife have known through Any Soldier.

    Galvanized in our support.

    Blessings, door
