    Looking for good news

I am looking for some articles with good news or uplifting stories relating to military activities or progress in Afghanistan and Iraq. Several contacts have mentioned that they just don't hear much good news so I'm hoping to include some in the next boxes. It's harder to find than I anticipated.

Please share links to any good, uplifting news stories here.

    Thanks!

    Re: Looking for good news

You do have to look for the "good" news. Here are some of the sites I use:

Afghanistan-- Combined Joint Task Force 101 site: http://www.cjtf101.com/

Iraq--Operation Iraqi Freedom:  Official Website of Multi-National Force--Iraq

    http://www.mnf-iraq.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Two other general sites that are more "military" related than specific to Iraq or Afghanistan:

    Pentagon channel: http://www.pentagonchannel.mil/

    U.S. Department of Defense: http://www.defenselink.mil/

I'm sure others have much better sites but I hope this helps a little.  :)

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do read all those sites and many milblogs. I have a long list of favorites that I check at least every few days or each week. Still hard to find enough good news to send.

I was really hoping for links to specific articles rather than sites. Divide and conquer by sharing good news articles, IOW ...

Don't forget to print out some of the Patriotic things, too.  Check out the Patriotism (-ic?) thread here as well.  Somtimes people forget the basics.  There was also an article about how the local Iraqi's helped put out during the fire that burned out that group of Marines.  Find that thread or the link to photos & that article.  Look to the humanitarian efforts of our troops as well as the things people are doing here at home to support the cause. SFC Mike Rush has also posted photos and speaks of the humanitarian assistance we give to two orphanages in his area.  Previously Bret Liberatore was supporting these kids.

Is this what you have in mind?  If you Google "Good News", this is one of the sites you can get:  http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/.  Check it out.

    Hi Widget,

My friend's brother in law is a Major General in the Army, I can forward some of the emails that he sends along with photos if you would like.  I have a few goods ones that come to mind so send me a PM with your email address if you would like me to forward them.

another place to look is right here, under the "success stories" tab.  I hadn't thought to look at it in a long time--I'm always reading soldier updates and forums--but spent alot of time there yesterday.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a story from an Alabama paper featuring the homecoming of one of MY contacts, Jeremiah Griffin!
