    Things made in the U.S.A.

I posted on this subject in the forum's "Chit Chat" (Please buy things made in the U.S.A.) because I am concerned about the current violence in Afghanistan. I am concerned about how it must be for our soldiers to receive items made in certain countries that are geographically close to them and of a questionable "friend" status.  Support the economy of the U.S.A. while we support our troops.  I would guess that a  "made in the U.S.A." label means a lot to the soldiers.

I am on a budget, as most people are.  I will start making a list of basic things that I send that are made in America.

~Body wash, regular size, White Rain brand (varied scents), $1.00 each at Walgreen's ,Dollar Tree, most stores

~blankets- acrylic, $6 each, Owen brand....bought at Rose's dept. store

~Dryer sheets, $1.00 at Dollar Tree (Cuddle Soft-55 sheets)

~Deodorant, (Speed Stick, Power Stick, Lady Speed Stick-$1.00 at Dollar Tree)

    ~Chapstick (Blistex, Chap-Ex brand-two for $1.00 at Dollar Tree, Rose's Dept. Store,)

~Pens (Any Soldier-See "Sales and Donations", Pilot EasyTouch pens-most stores-$1.50-$2.00 for two)

    ~Q-tips (Q-tips brand, Walgreen's brand travel size(30 ct.)

~Bar soap, many made in the U.S.A.(Irish Spring, Dove, Dial, Palmolive, Tone, to name a few.)

~Disposable Razors (Personna ten pack at Dollar Tree stores-pkg says "Blades made in the USA, Craftsmen since 1875)

~White ankle socks (Sport Classics brand, Hanes half-cushion ankle)

~White crew socks (Sport Classics brand, Fruit of the Loom reinforced crew)

...Now that I know that this part of the forum exists I will research and post later!  Thank you so much and I look forward to reading what other junkies have found!

Re: Things made in the U.S.A.

I may have listed these in a different thread a while back but where things are made can change very quickly so I’ve rechecked my current stock and these are still labeled as Made in USA:
    • Softsoap body wash – Nutra-Oil
    • Atsko Sport-Wash – both laundry detergent (liquid) and hair & body soap (gel)
    • Charmin To Go toilet paper
    • Gold Bond Foot Powder
    • Oral B toothbrushes
    • Huggies Wipes Unscented softpack
    • QTips (as mentioned above by blix)
    • Chapstick (as mentioned above by blix)
    • Playtex Sport Tampons  Crayola crayons (for those supporting schools in Philippines and Colombia)
    • Papermate American Classic Pencils
    • PowerBar
    • Clif Bar  Jelly Belly
    • Dum Dum Pops
I also try to keep in mind that good allies make good trading partners. If what I need can’t be found to be made in the USA, I consider products made in the countries of those fighting beside us next.      Remember that “recreational” drug use supports terrorism.  The majority of funding for the Taliban and FARC comes from illegal drug money from the USA.  If we help clean up our own streets, we’re helping our Armed Forces in the fight.

Thanks for the tips ladies, and JoCee you are so right about the illegal drug money.  The taliban gets many millions of dollars from this.  Without that funding source they would disappear quickly.

Re: Things made in the U.S.A.

I looked at some things in our "troop stash" and found made in the USA:

    Aquafresh toothpaste

    Max Block SPF30 lip balm

Clear Eyes 0.2 ounce eye drops

    RayOVac AA alkaline batteries

Schick Xtreme3 Comfort Plus razors; Schick Slim Twin men's razors

Walgreen twin blade plus women's razors

    Kotex unscented maxi pads

St. Ives 18 oz. pump bottle body moisturizer; St. Ives moisturizing body wash (13.5 oz.); St. Ives 6 oz. Apricot Scrub

Jergens Ultra Healing extra dry skin moisturizer 2 oz.

Dial for Men Hair + Body Hydrating Wash (6 oz.)

Dove sensitive skin unscented beauty bar; Dove deep moisture body wash (1.8 oz.)

Caress 1.86 oz. cream oil body wash

    Cottonelle flushable moist wipes

Breck 9 oz. cornstarch baby powder

Fred's 15 oz. cornstarch baby powder

I haven't had the time or energy to go through all of the items because we just bought a large cart full at Big Lots about a week ago and still had things left from before.  I did notice that some of the things came from Honduras, Canada, Mexico, and 2 or 3 from Pakistan.

Does anyone know where Colgate Palmolive products are manufactured?  I looked on 3 items (soap and body wash) that I didn't find an origin printed on.  I haven't checked into them yet.

Hi Gran - don't know if you've seen these links or not so thought I'd post them in case you haven't.  Haven't really explored the sights myself but I used to see the Colgate Clock on the way to work every morning - it's kind of a landmark around here - hence my interest in your post.

Anyway, the first link is a wiki one - for what it is worth - most colleges no longer accept wiki as a reliable source for term papers but thought I'd post it anyway for whatever info you can glean from it.  The second is Colgate's site.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Re: Things made in the U.S.A.

Some of the units, the ones I've seen have been in the Philipines, do all their own cooking and dishwashing so I thought I'd post thes items.  And since some of us send stuff that needs to be washed first, I checked laundry stuff too.  On a trip to the grocery store checked a few products today and found the following ones all stamped Made In the U.S.A. =

Palmolive liquid hand soap and dish soap ( most of the Palmolive products I found were all marked made in U.S.A. don’t think there were any made elsewhere)

    Ajax dish liquid

Soft scrub gel and the stuff in the white containers

    Easy Off

    Old English polishing products

Scotch Brite Wet Mopping Cloths  (I've seen units ask for this kind of stuff also along with the dry mop cloths)

    Tide

    Downy

    Snuggle

    Shout

    Have a good one,  Ann

Don’t know if all their products are made in the USA but all the archival scrap booking pens I’ve bought of theirs have been stamped MADE IN USA. Their products are available online and in local scrap book stores - and their site is really easy to useJ

I'm not sure if all thier products are made in the US but everything that I have hear from Bath And Body Works (and I have alot) is made in the US. This includes thier signature collection items, antibacterial collection, true spa collection and products made by CO Bigelow. Also I noticed at the store the other day that Burts Bee products are made in the US too.

BioFreeze - a product similar to flexall and bengay - is made in the USA.  My chiropractor gives out little individual samples when I visit.

Some of the wrapping paper that I bought at our local $ Store is made in the USA!  Not all, you have to check the wrapper.

And some wooden puzzles for kids.

Found 100% acrylic camouflage print blankets (Owen brand) made in the USA for $6.00 each at Rose's Dept. Store.  They are not extremely soft, but at that price could get several!  I would imagine that they would work for those that sleep in CHU's,  for those in more remote spots, wool would probably be better?
