James Buchanan is looking for spurs...

I just realized this might be a good one to post here, since it's just so odd. LOL  They are cavalry, and are looking for actual spurs.  So on the off chance anyone has spurs laying around, he's your man!

    Thanks!

I actually do, but they're left over from childhood riding days so they probably won't fit, and I'm not sure I want to part with them for memories' sake....there is a tack store not far from where I live though which would carry that sort of thing, so I might go check that out!  Thanks!

Thanks Kristen for pointing him out! I had read that and done some homework on it. However with the new KOP guys, i haven't had the opportunity to get or send any spurs. I did find out, in case someone is looking to do this for them, that it's a pretty rich Cavalry tradition. Spurs earned in combat are gold colored "prince of whales" english spurs. I found a website that carries then with the straps for $14.50 at http://crossedsabers-chapter-giftshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=346

I hope that helps since I couldn't get to this, so maybe it'll make it easier for someone to send them. It's a really honorable thing to earn your spurs and i'm sure there are plenty of guys who deserve them. If someone reads this and is thinking of sending, Buchanan was pretty specific that ANY spurs would be great so don't feel like they have to be this kind, i just went looking for what the tradition normally consisted of.

Anybody know if he ever got the requested spurs?

I just found men's slip on spurs with the 10 point rowel on www.jeffersequine.com that were on clearance for $3.95 a pair.  I sent him 6 pair.  At first I wasn't sure about them being slip ons, but his post says that he's looking for "spurs - any and all kinds" so I figure they'll be okay.

Last time he posted he said he had received one and was thrilled, he has never mentioned it in email. There are at least 20 guys and I think they would love to have spurs for each of them, but I don't know if/how many he may have received since his last post a month ago. I would guess they could still use them, and I know he'll love it!!!
