Yeah Kathryn,
With so much time to get our '50' cards done, it is totally doable. And just in time for Christmas.
Lisa, thanks for taking on the Christmas Card Swap.

TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED Cards!!!
Junkies...think of it, 2500 soldiers who will know that people are thinking of them and what they are doing; who love and care about them and will never forget them! We can do this. Your mission this week--should you decide to accept it, is to sign up on the Card Swap 5 list and to get the base done for 5 cards this week! Pens up! LOL
Amy, sweetie, I put you on the list, but I am not sure what your board name is. Thank you for joining us. Please send me a straight email at jetakai_s@hotmail.com if you have any questions. I tried writing you but it just kicked it back to me.
Lurkers and newbies, now is the time to come to the aid of your CARD SWAP! LOL even if you have only posted once, or never posted...we need you! I will answer all questions, public or private--write me! I know Christmas and the holidays can be a hectic time in our lives and I thank you all for taking the time to put a smile on a weary soldier's face. The support and card swaps are about touching, one hand reaching out to give another hand a hug.
For those who celebrate differently, please remember this is a card swap. I don't care if you send a wish of peace or happiness, a scenic card from your state, or just wishes of wellness to the troops. They need your contact. You guys are wonderful and thank you all for signing up.

Twenty five hundred cards,
Lordy, some soldiers are going to be thrilled with all these cards around the holidays. Thanks for not being so rigid on this card swap Lisa. The goal is to get cards, even if you just get Thank you cards and write a little note in them......the Warriors will appreciate this.
Mission Impossible......knowing you, it's Mission Possible. And even if you are a little later than the date November 12th, Lisa knows this, and knows that life does happen. Everything will fall in to place.
Thank you Lisa for taking on this Card Swap #5.
Mimi

Hi libral40, If you finish them in plenty of time, you can mail them in a box or a padded envelope and send them first class or parcel post and it will probably cost less than priority. First class takes 3 days and parcel post can take 5-7 days, but sometimes it doesn't take that long.

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
Thought I'd post this here instead of the Free and Great Deals thread since there are so many card makers here.
Michael's in our area has Christmas stamps in stock on an end cap in the scrap book section. They make card making a snap. If you stamp on a separate piece of cardstock and then attach to the card it goes really fast. They have:
1. Message stamps large and small
2. Wreaths, Santas, Mangers, a postcard suitable one, Christmas tree, Charlie Brown all in fairly large size for the front of a card.
3. Smaller ones in same themes for 1-2" squares
4. Also have sets.
Prices on individuals range from 6.99 - 10.99 approx. Sets around 12.99
THE GOOD PART - 50% off coupons - will get a good deal whether they are Michael's (they are giving register receipt coupons) or A. c. Moore coupons from the paper. This week AC had a 50% off coupon only good on Tuesday but they have a 20% off coupon good on any WED in Aug that you can get in the store at the register - it is a printed brochure not a register coupon.
Happy Card Making everyone,
Ann

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
Yeah Lisa,
We just have to get postcards or small cards, (which many usually are in Card Swap), and they will fit in the flat rate envelope, as it is certainly large enough. After all, size doesn't matter, it's the thought and words of support to the soldiers that count, and what a wonderful Christmas present for them. AnySoldier "junkies" are great at stuffing things in a box or envelope and making it all fit. And with you so generously picking up the tab to mail back to everyone........well........that is ingenious.
You are a marvelous woman, and I for one, am so happy the "computer glitch" was fixed that wound up banning you from AnySoldier.

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
Hey Lisa - How’s it going up there in the cold northern reaches of the world? Sounds like beautiful country up there.
Truth be told, more than plastic things are stressed around these parts. One more commitment would be pushing things a bit far so I must beg off on this one. Sorry.
Welcome back though. Nice to see you getting things like this going to bring so much Holiday cheer to our Troops.
BTW - round about when do you guys get your first snowfall? Love snow - always starts the Christmas spirit early - if you survive the shoveling part without too many aches and pains :).
Take care, Ann
PS Don't forget those 50% off coupons from the papers and the register coupons! Sometimes all you have to buy is a couple of things in the $1.00 bins and you get the register printed coupons!!! YAY!

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
LOL I know the card shattering Ann, I think I passed that back around May. Sorry you can't join us but just a thought, I am taking home made, paper cards. As far as I am concerned, grab some paper, a box of crayons and the funny papers and a glue stick. You sure you can't join?
Thank you for all the great ideas!
I am surprised we don't have snow yet, though sometimes we get it after halloween. So it depends. This summer has been the coldest, wettest, somethingest on record (least days over 65...three) We had a dusting of snow on the mountains like in July. Everyone feels really cheated right now. But Alaskans perservere, so you go camping with long johns and the flap, etc. :) I love the first couple of snow shovels, it number 10 that I start paying for. Ha!

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
I'm psyched to get started on my cards for both swap 4 and 5. I finally finished the 220 cards I needed for my church's care packages we're putting together this Tuesday....yowsa, I planned badly on my timing there! I'm going to get these swap cards rocking this week so I can keep away from the last minute writers cramp! lol. By the way - if we're doing 50 cards in a FRE...would it be better to have everyone do a 4.25 x 5.5 card, then we don't send envelopes back and forth? Or do people really like decorating their envelopes enough to do that anyway?

I would love to do it.
Do they have to be homemade?
Do we write anything in it or do we leave them blank?

Re: Card Swap #5 - Due back November 12th - Christmas Theme
Hugs and thank you for joining us Cindy. The rules are: leave the card unsealed if you put it in an envelope, stay away from politics and heavy religeon. Other than that, lots of hugs, and well wishes, peace and warmth. (most ideas sparked from google)
What to do with your cards: Buy them, make them, have classes make them, have friends make them at a fondue and spritzer party, seal with a kiss, a spritz of perfume, a childs hand print, stickers from your state, crayons, magic markers, post cards, funny paper clippings, write on them, deep poetry, inspirational messages, you guys are wonderful, thank you so much, love the american family, hugs, hope you come home soon, God bless, stay safe, thank you, come home, write me if you would like a pen pal, sponsor, what can you use, happiness is seeing a soldier smile, same message, different messages, scrap booking pages, pictures of home, pictures of families, pictures of pets, ink stamps, small velvet elvis coloring page, personal game book, word searches with imissyou, comehome, staysafe, coloring pages, christmas, hanukkah, kwanzaa, winter solstice, lantern festival, print your own cards, power point, word, smilebox, the world is a better place because of what you do, you are an inspration to me and so many others, even if every flower in the world had a voice I couldn't send as many as it would take to say thanks enough for what you are doing, put your thank you verse on the outside of your card and a collage on the inside, cut your card to match your state, a flower, a boat, wavy frame, print on vellum and tuck inside, add a drink mix, jerky, gum, EmergenC, cocoa packet, basically ANYTHING YOU WANT

Thank you, thank you........So not all the cards have to be the same one right? Everyone on the AnySoldier website is so creative......I think some of it is jumping my way
You are such an inspiration......thanks,
