Thank you guys so much.  We only have 7 slots left, so lets see if we can find some more lurkers and newbies and hunt them.  Remind them that there won't be another Christmas card swap for another year.  Do you really want to wait a whole long year before you send Christmas cards to the troops.  Join the card swap.  Auntie Lisa wants YOU!

LIsa - I am holding off on signing for the second set till November. I wanna give others a chance to join the fun. If you don't get the spots filled by say 11/03  then I will take a set of 50 cards to work and have them signed by my coworkers. (I can get this done within a couple of days and get them mailed at the little PO right there on location, then you will will have them in plenty of time.

By the way, Anne Marie, I am looking forward to seeing your Santa letters!

    Hi Y'all...

I learned about this swap on the chat this weekend. WOW~!

I can't wait to jump on this Christmas bonus for all my contacts.

No, I'm not really crafty... so my cards will be store bought this time, BUT my granddaughter has agreed to jump in with me for the Easter one and we'll get more original!  I think she's working on her boyfriend too who also draws well! I'm looking for some good things!

     Got to run!

I am a newbie to this and was wondering how this works a little more.

Do we right a letter or message in the card we send to you for a soldier. Or keep it blank then send the cards we inquire, write the cards out after the swap? From what I can read. We pick out 50 colorful cards, whether be taking pictures of stuff old/ or new and making a card, buy cards at a store, or postcards made into a christmard, or craft a card made up? Is this correct? If we do write something in it. Do all the cards have to be different or the same? example: a picture I have in France, England or somewhere else copied on to 50 cards made from Kinkos or Shutterfly. Do we address to Dear Soldier? I don't have 50 contacts just yet. all my troops have come home and I just picked another unit yesterday and about to pick another.

Sorry never done this would like to help if I can.

Is there an address I send these cards to for the swap.

Thanks. Any help for this new girl to the group would really appreciate it.

<tackles the newbies--rolls them over; you get the gist--enters their names on the Card Swap list>

HI!  I'm Tiggeeerrrr!  er...I'm Jetakai.  Welcome! Thank you so much for joining us.  Party!!!

No worries, still pleanty of time to get cards into the swap.  Due to me...November 12 (no later than, short turn around for Christmas) I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date...my own card swap.

Just three more slots, ooo what fun, we are definately going to "git 'er done!"

"Do we write a letter..." yep, yep, please do, soldiers want to hear from you!

"or keep them blank" nope nope, don't go there, solders want more than air!

50 cards of any size, please the heart and please the eyes.

Make them big, buy them small, same or different, send them all.

Cards go out, hand to hand, then we send them to the sand.

Have some links, just a few, hoping that they can help you.

LOL hope you guys don't mind me being Dr. Seuss silly.  Basically a card swap gets us motivated to make a lot of cards.  They can all be the same, because once you send them to me, I split them up and send the mixed piles back to the participants.  So even if you make the same card 50 times, with 170,000 soldiers over there, the odds of the same person getting the same card, is infinitesimal (ooo, such a big fun word).  Please post or send me an email if you have any questions.

Contacts, contacts.  The easiest way to get them passed out is to pull a first sergeant, chaplain, or hospital coordinator and send your mixed cards to them.  They will be happy to get them passed out.  I always send double to my contacts, so they have a few extras to pass out too (makes the feel good to spruce up another soldier's day), but you can also pass them out locally, to the VA hospitals and the local chapters of the VFW.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!  Please grab a chair, get some tea Coffee and stay awhile.  We loves new peoples.

Oooo, and my address for the swap is

    Lisa Grandbois

    3240 Penland Parkway, Space 428

    Anchorage, Alaska 99508

I hope you guys have a wonderful time while you are here!

    Hugs

ooo, would love to see it.  just send me the email at jetakai_s@hotmail.com  It can handle big pictures.  but to be honest, as long as it is made with love hugs and kiss (and a few smudges from the little one too) the soldiers will love it.  You will do fine. It is really hard to go wrong when you are hugging a soldier.  :)

Hi Swappers! I'm a newbie that signed up for this card swap ... I received my first letters back from my care packages today!!! Party!!!. One soldier wrote me and asked in a P.S. if I "have a single female friend to write to my roomate? A 31 yr old Marine pilot, attractive, successful, seeking long walks on the beach?" too funny! Well, being I'm in my mid 30s and all my friends are married off I was hoping maybe someone on this board would like to write to my Marine's (my Marine - I have a Marine Big Smile) roomate pretty please. If you're interested - do that thing where you send me an e-mail and I'll send you the details. Thanks!
