Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - Suggestion

    Hi Sharon,

I don't think it can be physically moved, someone would just have to start posting there.

My 2 cents worth. Why would we move it? I think I have every page memorized in this folder, just in case I need to go back and refresh my memory on something someone said or a note from one of our guys that someone posted.

What would be the reason for moving it?

    Just my opinion.

Marty can move it, but recently someone else asked about moving a thread, and he said he didn't have time.

The reason for moving it (or starting a new thread in another location) would be that it doesn't really fit the category it's currently under. The thread is about specific soldiers in a specific location, so it would fit better under "Who are the Contacts" (in my opinion). It's currently under "Non Food Items" which doesn't make sense, in the overall framework of the forums. It would just make it much easier for newcomers to find the info they need if things were under categories that better fit the information in that particular thread.

I'm just thinking about it in the scope of the whole forum, and it makes more sense to me to be somewhere else.

I'm wondering, what would be the reason for NOT moving it?

That's my two cents worth, and maybe a bit more... Wink

    HI,

Jocee posted under Who are the contacts and I posted a link back to this thread if people want to go back and read an old post.

I think it might be less confusing for new members and easier to get to.

    Hello Laura,

When you talk with Joshua McDonough's mother, please relay that he should receive a box from sierratradingpost that has some warm clothing along with some  handwarmers. Thanks in advance, Dan

Hi Agnieszka, since you have direct contact, would you find out what sort of cooking capablities they have please? Microwave? Stove/burner/open fire?  Which Plt is he with?  I have sent things to 1/2nd & 3rd, snacks, socks, handwarmers, etc.  I have lots of food things but don't know what/how/if they can cook, except for Justin's plt recently making a kitchen.  Still don't know how they will cook there.

    Thanks!  Anita

    Agnieszka,

Thank you for the virtual email contact. Big Smile

A long time ago, in a West German training area, we soldiers used a product called ESBIT(www.esbit.de) which was sold in the PX. It is a very light weight collapsible aluminum stove to cook our cans and boil water.  We had C rations then....(okay, so I'm ancient). This low cost cook stove and solid fuel tablets are availabe through Campmor and other sites.

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for the tip.  Those little stoves sound like they'd come in mighty handy for the guys at the smaller posts.  BTW, just because you've lived for a while, it does NOT make you ancient.  :)

Has anyone heard from Justin?  Just wondering....it's been quite a while since I've heard from him.  It seems like I hear from him more infrequently as time goes by.

    Hugs to everyone,

    Sharon

    Sharon,

I was going to ask you the same thing, about Justin. I have not heard from him in a while either. As a matter of fact I sent him a copy of the Troops Presentation, but took the political stuff out of it, also sent him a cigar and cutter, not sure if he smokes, but thought he might enjoy that after what all they had been through. But I have not heard a word.

I wanted to say THANK YOU to those of you that have sent Thank You cards to Kroger. I am putting them back and seeing how many I get. I'd love to make an impact to the President.

Thanks again, everybody! Love ya All!!

Kroger is a great store. We don't have them here, but I remember the saying:

    Scubadogbones,

I agree, they have been good to me for 24 years now. Too bad, you don't have any up there. I'm not sure if some of the other names are up there either. I can be proud to say I work for a GREAT company.
