Well, the Olympics are over and I will say that I did not see every gold medal ceremony for the US, but the ones I did see gave me pause. In one ceremony, and I don't remember which, there was a group of our young men listening to the national anthem, and only one of them had his hand over his heart. in the other ceremonies I saw, no one did. They were busy waving to fans or whatever- not being reverent in any way. In the very last gold medal ceremony-which I am so thankful I saw, it was for the Men's vollyball team. With what those guys went through to make it to the Gold Medal was wonderful. When the National Anthem was played for them, every one of them had his hand over his heart, but even better were singing it out loud. Some were belting it out. Now I realize the folks are excited to have won the medal, and it is a great time for them, but was nice to see a bit of pride of country in some of the atheletes. Sorry, off my soap box.
