    Marty,

This quote was written just for you and the Horn family project of AS....  We love you.

"When Nature has work to be done,
she creates a genius to do it."
    — Ralph Waldo Emerson:
19th century American essayist and philosopher

    Deb,

That is so true.  Thanks Marty, Sue, Brian and Svet for all you do for the military, their familes, and the "junkies".

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.
    ~ Harvey Fierstein

Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as you can.                     ---  John Wesley (1703-1791) Founder of the Methodist Church

    So many good quotes!

Here are a couple of my favs ...  I have a long, long list. I use them in letters, cards and emails to my contacts all the time.

If you're going through hell, keep going.
       Winston Churchill
(this one has been very relevant for me this last month!)

No kindness, however small, is ever wasted
       Aesop

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.
       Abraham Lincoln

Another from our greatest president;  Abraham Lincoln.

    Oooooo Widget & James! Excellent!!!!

The Lincoln ones also sound like something Mark Twain would have written.  LOVE them!  Thanks.  I'll add all of them to my lists of favorites.

    Havea great weekend.

My own personally-relevant one recently comes from Vincent VanGogh:

I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.

Here's one of my favorites, it's a Spanish proverb and one I vowed to live by after 9/11.  I chose it as my tag line.

A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.

Another favorite of mine is:  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

In honor of Maj.Gary Bourland, SFC Mike Rush, The CSM, and all our beloved military, may I humbly submit today's quote:

Without duty, life is soft and boneless; it cannot hold itself together. Joseph Joubert (1754-1824) Essayist and moralist

    Re: Quote of the Day

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star.                              I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are.
