Rachelle,
I think it's really great that you want to be in the military.
I had the privilege this week of attending, with the PGR, the funeral of a MN National Guard soldier who served as a recruiter for several years. He gave up his job as recruiter and volunteered to go to Iraq. He died last weekend in a tragic accident. Hundreds of people from the community and many from the National Guard came to pay respects to him, and we heard again and again what a kind and likable person he was.
Being in the military is an honorable thing. Good luck in your pursuits!
EDIT: Rachelle, I realized after posting this that it might read as kind of a downer, so I wanted to clarify - the reason I told you this story was to illustrate how much the community valued this soldier and his service to our country. People like you, and him, and my brothers and sister who served, and all of "our soldiers" from AS, are a gift - and many, many people appreciate that gift.
