    JoCee,

I received my order of 3 Petzl tachtilites (NO CLUE how to spell that!) and will get them shipped to SSG Carroll this week, either the day before or after Thanksgiving.  Glad to hear they are set for food in their 'pantry.'

    Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

Thanks for the packing tips - some great ideas. I went to the post office last Friday with semi packed boxes, hoping they'd allow some bulging areas. No. Some things were too big for the flat rate but I brought larger cartons, and removed some things from original boxes. I was there nearly two hours engineering the stuff into them, filling out the customs forms, and taping, taping, taping. My goodness, the tape! The postal gal must have thought I was crazy. I was happy to get my first shipments out and hope all will arrive in decent condition; I especially hope that the cookies and crackers don't disintegrate by the time they get there.

Best wishes to all for a thankful Thanksgiving.

    Linwillo,

If it's any concolation, when my brother was in the Army and we used to send him care packages, he said he didn't care if he had to eat the cookies with a spoon, keep sending cookies!  So I am sure whatever condition the cookies arrive in, they WILL be eaten!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

SSG Carroll updated on 02 Jan 2009.  Amongst the things requested, I am sending the following:

    • 10 black watch caps (knit 'beanie' winter caps)
    • 5 pairs black mens winter gloves, size XL
    • DVDs of 'Dark Knight' (most recent Batman movie) and 'Tropical Thunder' (comedy with Ben Stiller)
    • variety of canned soups, however many fir in on large FRB.

He asked for pancake mix and syrups so if anyone has those on in their 'soldier stash' already, please consider shipping them on to him, he said that was their favorite comfort food!  Also requested more winter clothing.

    Happy 2009!

Isn't it great how Kristoper posts on AS, makes it really easy to know just what to send and just as importantly what NOT to send.  Wish more of them did that.  No wonder he has so many faithful contacts, of course it doesn't hurt that he seems like such a sweet guy.

Do any of you know which other firebases could use a griddle, I have 3    I could send as well as 2 more hot pots.  Not sure who has elec. for them.      I haven't heard back from most of the groups I send to.    Anita

On Dec. 29 we mailed them a package with 2 boxes Wheat Thins, 2 boxes Triscuits, 6 (7 oz.) tuna pouches, a box of hot cocoa mix, a doz. each of single serve relish and dressing, and some packs of trail mix and 4 pr. boxer briefs.  I'm glad he indicated that they were good on hygiene items because we had mailed them one hygiene box on Nov. 12.

I have pancake mix that I was going to send to him but I see he has gone into the Old Contacts list.  Has anyone had contact with him?  If he needs pancake mix, if someone could give me his address I'd appreciate it!
