    GySgt Joseph T. Aguilar

Junkies -- just wanted to start a thread here for GySgt Joseph T. Aguilar, U.S. Marines/Iraq (15 males/no females).  He's signed on to the Forum as Aguilarfam, and is asking for messages of support for his guys -- http://forum.anysoldier.com/forums/p/7880/47030.aspx#47030.  I know we'll be HAPPY to do that, right?Smile

If you check out his post of 9/27/08, you'll see more details -- I especially liked the *emotional* microwave Smile  -- very descriptive !!!!

Joe -- I have freezer pops that you can put in that deep freezer -- is it okay to send them, or is it too cold over there now?

    Let me know --

    --Marilyn

    Hi GySgt Joe,

Just wanted to let you know that I picked you and your guys up last week.  I have a couple of boxes packed and ready to go out on Tuesday.  One of Halloween goodies (may or may not get to you before Halloween--oops), and a box of snacky-foody things.

Great to see you here on the forum!

Thanks for starting this thread Marylin.   I kinda wish more guys  were able to post like this so we can identify those that need an "extra" hug in the mail.

Dear Sgt Joe, are you set for hygiene stuff?  I am having a collection  at my local bingo and am getting a lot of items in.  I can put you on my list  of where to send the packages.  Would this be of a help to you and the  guys?

If you are able to get back on and post please let  me know.

     Respectfully,

     Amy

    Cheers,

    Amy

    Re: GySgt Joseph T. Aguilar

You're welcome, Amy!  I know -- I wish more of our troops could post, too!  I do tell all my contacts about the Forum in my letters and/or e-mails, and give them the link, and encourage them to come on if they can.  It's such a blessing when we can talk with them directly, isn't it?

Anyway -- you can send Joe a PM or an e-mail using the "Contact" button at the top right of one of his posts.  You can ask him about the hygiene stuff now and won't have to wait till he can get back on to the Forum.  I did that about my freezer pops question above, and he e-mailed me back early this morning (my time) with a -- "freezer pops would be cool -- thank you!" Stick out tongue

    Take care,
    --Marilyn

Thank you so much.  The guys just ran out of candy today for the Iraqi kids.  We give it out to the kids around here and it helps keep us safe.  You would be suprised how much information you can get from a kid if he has a jolly rancher in his mouth.

I look forward to getting your package.  I just told a couple of the guys that walked in here and they are excited.

    Amy,

That would be awsome.  All I ask is that you call me Gunny or Joe.

We can use all kinds of hygine gear we went to the "store" at the shelves were empty the other day.

    Stuff and Replys

    Hello to everyone!

Thank you for the boxes that we recieved so far!  It has been great I took a few pictures of us handing out Candy to the local kids.  We were recently stuck on Fallujah for a few days because we had a truck break down.  It was alot of fun..  We slept most of the first night on the gravel outside the maintenance tent.  Then once they decided a new engine was needed, we hyjacked a tent where we stayed when we first arrived in the area.  Luckly, we had picked up laundry the previous day and that was still in the truck so we had clothes to wear.   We had some snacks from the boxes that were sent and we were content.  However, when we had to do it again the next day we were missing our little tent back here.

I do have a request that when you write please include an email address.  I want to write back and say thank you but obviously our free time is limited so if you give an email address your more likely to get a reply.

     Thank you,

GySgt Joe Aguilar is one funny guy. And he knows how to treat his supporters! Here is an excerpt from an email he wrote about the box of protein snacks I sent his guys:

"as soon as I laid the box out they all grabbed what they wanted and I was left with an empty box in the middle of floor.  Picture a feeding frenzy of Paraná."

Wish I could transport his whole crew to my house for a home cooked meal!

    Re: Stuff and Replys

I am funny seriously; that is what it is like with these guys they go for all the good stuff and leave a few scraps.  I have the other platoon next door and they do not have an AnyMarine account so I give them anything that I have. I am always inviting them to come grab what they need.  What was bad is when we ran out of candy, and my gunner found one piece (it had been deflected back into the turret) and he threw and the kids were wrestling on the dirt road for the candy.  No wonder one of the IP's took down one of my Marines in a wrestling match, they wrestle all the time.  I asked the IP chief if the IP's act like kids and wrestle for candy. The Candy run was fun and we can only do that with your help.  I love handing out the candy that you send.  We ran out the other day and the only thing they had at the little exchange was the lifesavers candy so we bought them out and have been throwing that out on the way home.  Ok, its 0040 (1240 AM lol) in the morning and I should finish my work so I can get some rest. Thank you again for all your support!   GySgt Aguilar

A box of candy is on its way.  Took a few stores  (I think there are other junkies out there  Wink and I had to hunt for the Halloween candy<S>)

     Hopefully it arrives promptly.

    Hello from chilly Iraq,

I just sent an email updating everything but things are ok here. It's getting a little chilly down from our 100 plus weather to highs in the 70's with lows in the 50's and it will only go down from here.  The strange thing is it did not take long to get used to the hot weather but getting used to the cold weather is whole other story.  I remember in colorado having shorts on when it was 20 outside but now i am freezing at 60.

Thank you again for all of your support.
