    Anybody know about Girl Scouts?

I was wondering do they only sell the cookies in the summer or can I still get them? I really want to find out but never can. I think "my" soldiers would love them. Thanks! Big Smile

I got a ton of cookies to send out during the "season" but it looks like from their website http://www.girlscouts.org/ that they do not sell them off time.  They have other things for sale.  I can tell you one thing..Oreos in all their many flavors, go just as fast, and the boyscouts often sell popcorn.  Try contacting your local girl scout council and see if they have anything coming up, especially for the Christmas rush.

It depends where the Girl Scouts live when they sell.  I live in the middle of 3 councils and they each sell at a different time of the year.  Lisa's suggestion to contact you local council is a very good one.  Often the council office will have extra boxes too. Lynne B.

Yes, I would amagine that the Girl Scout cookies are hard to find in the off season.

The biggest request I get are oreo's (they come in several varities) and chocolate chip cookies by Chip Ahoy.

Another good idea for a cookie package is just a plain cookie or waffer.  I also add a jar (plastic) of a good peanut butter (I like the Reese's brand), a plastic jar of marshmello cream, and a small jar of Betty Crocker frosting made with real hershey chocolate. (the hot weather is so hard on chocolate if its not in a container).  Be sure to add plastic tableware for spreading. If I still have room in the box I will sneak in a squeeze bottle of jelly or jam.  Bama and Smuckers are the ones I find in plastic squeeze bottles. I get alot of thank you mail for this package.

I almost forgot that sometimes I will add a package of white or wheat tortillas since bread is sometimes hard to send.

Something else you might try: if you know a Girl Scout leader, call her/him and ask if they know of any troops that ordered too many cookies. The troops have to keep them unless they find another troop to sell them. Sometimes, leaders know which other leaders have cookies in freezers that they would gladly sell to you so the troop can get back the money they had to pay for the cookies.

I contacted my local council just to ask them when they went on sale, because some of my soldiers asked for them... they ended up donating me about 30 cases of their leftovers from the last selling season (they are all still fresh)!  Thanks to many AS junkies who donated money, ive been able to ship a bunch out..if you want any for your troops though, i still have some left.. just let me know the soldiers name and i can send them for ya if you want. :)

Thanks everyone for the ideas! They are great!

Sumara- Thanks for the offer but I would feel bad having you do that. I really appreciate the thought though! Big Smile

For Peanut Butter, I'd like to suggest PB2, available from BellPlantaion.com (http://www.bellplantation.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=54) I eat it myself, and it seemed like the perfect thing to put in my boxes. Yes, it is lowfat, which is a downside for soldiers, BUT it is also all-natural and DEHYDRATED, so it lasts a long time and weighs very little. They've just come out with a Chocolate PB2, which tastes a lot like Nutella spread. I plan to include this with the next batch that goes out. I've just emailed Bell Plantation, too, to see if they'll offer a discount for APO/FPO addresses. I'll post back when I hear more.
