Re: 6-4 CAV poncho liners
I just got an e-mail from US Cav that the 10 poncho liners I ordered for Rodriguez will not be available now for 56 more days. That will be sometime the middle of April. Should I leave the order to be sent then, or should I cancel it?

Re: 6-4 CAV poncho liners
I think just cancel. We have some on the way. I'm running into the same thing with 3 different things from three different suppliers. I WILL NOT EDITORLIZE on the economy, I will not. Thanks for all you are doing.

Re: 6-4 CAV poncho liners
I cancelled my order. When I ordered them it showed the black ones in stock, a month later I got a notice they were going to be backordered! First I was told they would be available about March 6, when I called back to cancel she said they would be available the last week of Feb., but I cancelled anyway. If they still need them later, and they are in stock I'll reorder.
Don't understand why it took them so long to tell me they weren't in stock. Not sure now of his address. Anita

Re: 6-4 CAV poncho liners
I am new to this site. I had bought sheet sets to send to the soldiers and I was wondering if this group of 6-4 CAV soldiers still needs sheets? I'm not sure how to tell if one group of soldiers in Afghan from another. I am wanting to send them to the Ft. Hood soldiers if they need them. I have 6 sets of sheets for male soldiers and 40-50 pillowcases that I have heat pressed a Thank You note on to the pillowcases. I would like to send them to this group of soldiers before they leave. I am getting more to make for other soldiers. I would appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you. Kibby, Frisco, Tx

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
Hi Amber,
I am new to this too and just came across this site and your post this evening. My boyfriend is an Operation Sergeant w/ 6-4 CAV, A TRP at COP LOWELL too! This is my first deployment, not his though. It is extremely primitive there and they haven't had civilian internet in months! When he was home for R & R in January, he said that they loved the snacks and the junk food that people sent the best. They got several care packages around Christmas time w/ lots of toiletries and personal care items. They sort of stock up on those items, but really enjoy the snacks and of course, always cigarettes. The only kind of cigarettes they can get over there are middle eastern ones and I've heard that they are terrible. I personally don't smoke, but I know that the majority of them do there.
I've also found an online cookie company that I order from periodically called cookies direct. The owner is super nice and I only order from her when I send cookies overseas. She ships to APO addresses for free and she sponsers a club 9 program that always includes an "extra" dozen cookies to your soldier's order so he can can share. My boyfriend says that the cookies are packaged well and make it to them in good shape. He also said that they are delicious and there is always plenty to share. If you would like to check out her website, it's http://www.cookiesdirect.net/. We had a mail problem only once where the package of cookies was returned to her for whatever reason. You never know sometimes?? She promptly e-mailed me to alert me of the problem and delay and sent them out a fresh batch of cookies at no charge. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. Feel free to contact me anytime. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. I know there are other military spouses/girlfriends out there, I just don't know any. Kind of cool that our guys are at the same spot.
Sincerely,
Amber Wallace

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
After looking at the cookie website, what it appears to me is that it isn't *free* shipping, but that the shipping is included in the price quoted, no matter where it is shipped. She just charges the same no matter what the destination.

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
I received an email from the 6-4 CAV chaplain, this morning. He had removed his name from anysoldier a while back. BODY,.aolmailheader {font-size:10pt; color:black; font-family:Arial;}
a.aolmailheader:link {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;}
a.aolmailheader:visited {color:magenta; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;}
a.aolmailheader:active {co "We have reached saturation point on care packages, the troops do not want to
take any more from us! If you could make a note
that the generosity of America was greatly appreciated by The Raiders!" He's asking that there not be any more care packages sent to the chaplain's office for 6-4 CAV. That's Maj. Ron Cooper, 6-4 CAV. Does not affect most anysoldier supporters, since we send directly to specific contacts within the units, but at one time Maj Cooper had been set up as a main contact for all of 6-4 CAV, too. They are very very grateful, and do not doubt, now that Americans support them. Good job, everyone. Again, this only affects those packages sent through the Chaplain's office at Maj. Ron Cooper, TF 6-4 CAV. Speaking as one of many who have been involved with people in "the forgotten" war OEF in Afghanistan for years, the response of Americans this year has been very emotional, and appreciated. Thanks to all, from me, too. 6-4 CAV does not doubt that they have our gratitude and prayers.

If you are a 6-4 CAV Family Member and have not yet heard about our Homecoming Activities (and preparation, Cookbook, T-shirts, etc), contact me by personal email and I'll send you the information. Send me your name and Soldier's name so I can hook you up with the right Family Readiness Group, too. THANK YOU!

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
Haola,
I got the same message from my contact in Afghanistan sereral months ago. He said they just didn't have room for more things. He dropped from anysoldier too. I think the support was just overwhelming. I just hope they never feel like we have forgotten them, but stuff can't replace the safe, secure comfort of home. We can't give them that :(

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
Do you think we could just send the Chaplain letters to hand out? Just so they know they're not done being loved-on..? :)

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
I think they have enough mail in the chaplain's office to send out to the COPs to last to the end of the deployment. I think it would be better to check out some other units that are just coming into Afghanisatn, and make sure they are as loved. The support for these guys has just been wonderful, and they know they are appreciated. Like I said, they literally may not get all mail delivered from the chaplain's office before stop mail. Keep sending to the individual contacts, just not through the Chaplain's office.

Re: 6-4 CAV Soldiers, Afghanistan
Hello Amber, too funny that our men are in the same place and we have the same name! LOL....My husband is a SGT w/ A Troop also. Thanks for the info, I'll have to check into that. I've sent 4 diff. care packages to my hubby w/ ALL sorts of stuff in it and stuff for him to share w/ his guys. It just takes forever for him to get any of the mail that i send b/c they're in such a remote location. This is his 2nd tour over there to Afghanistan, I'm just ready for it be over and can't wait for him to come home! Hopefully sooner than they were originally estimating, but we shall see! Thanks again for the info., and you're more than welcome to hit me up by email or whatever if u ever need to vent...i know how stressful all this is on us spouses and family members! Have a great weekend (whats left of it anyways!) --Amber Abernathy
