    GySgt Jesus Deniz

Has anyone had contact with GySgt Deniz?  I would like to help out with his Christmas project but as I just mailed him a letter today I am thinking I may be too late.  If anyone has heard from him and wouldn't mind passing along my email address to him so I could get a few gifts in the mail I would be ever so grateful!

Please PM me and I will give you my email to pass along!

     Thanks!

    Kristin,

After seeing this post, I requested GySgt Deniz's address and mailed him a letter today.  I admire what he is trying to do, hope he gets a big enough response to be successful.

    Jump on board, junkies!!!

    Lilly,

That's great!  Hopefully he will get enough support to have a small gift for everyone.  In my letter to him I asked him if phone cards were useful as well as the type they would use where they are.  If they are needed/useful I thought I would send some with some small gift boxes/bags and blank gift tags and then he could use them for those Marines who didn't have something under the tree.  If I hear from him I will post back here and let you know his thoughts!  Maybe I'll direct him over here and with greater exposure more might join in!

Sounds like you have issued a junkie challenge!

I have a letter written to him going out today requesting the names of 4 marines. I to plan to send some extra goodies, gift bags and tags as well as some small stockings with a few snacks in them. It sounds like from his post that he has internet readily avalible so hopefully our snail mail gets there quick enough and he can just e-mail us names and ideas.

    That's great Holly!

I mailed my letter on Wednesday and I'm guessing 7-10 days for it to reach him - we'll see.  I will definitely post here if I hear from him as well as direct him to this thread so others who might wish to support his Christmas project might be able to get in touch with him quickly.

I think I'll get to work on some Christmas cards for them also.  We're certainly having the weather here to get us in the holiday spirit - 32 degrees and frost everywhere when the kids headed out to school this morning - brrrrr!!  Hot chocolate and Christmas cards sounds like a great morning project!

    Everyone have a great day!

    Kristin,

Have You (or anyone out there) heard from Gunny Deniz?  I sent him MotoMail (he received it on the 11th - it took 8 days to get to him - the printer was down, I mailed him snail mail as well,) but I received no reply.  I think that it is getting near to the "cut off" time for this project since the mail takes this long to get there.  Is there anyone else that has a contact with the HMH - 466?

    Re: GySgt Jesus Deniz

A bit of info from our PO in central Arkansas:  One of the clerks mentioned to Mr. Gran when he said last week that he was trying to get a lot of packages mailed early before the holiday rush that their sales of Christmas stamps was in the dumps, so they didn't expect a big rush of holiday mail guaging from that.  Maybe that is universal this year due to the economy slump?  You may have a little less competition with the packages and have more time than you think?

    Gran,

I agree that there may not be a problem with USPS (our PO lady said the same to me) however, it looks like the Fleet Post Office is having hard time getting the mail to that area.  I will send out packages ASAP after I hear from Gunny Deniz, even if it is past the Holidays.  I was just hoping for the Marines to get their packages in time for Christmas.

    Hi, everybody.

I got an e-mail late last night from GySgt Deniz along with my 4 requested Marines/Sailors names and their wish list.  Here is what he says:

'First off I want to say thank you for all the support you are providing us. I received your letter today, and when I opened it, it just made me really happy. Happy that people still think of us here regardless how long we have been in this conflict. That means a lot because we are here to protect all of you back home and knowing you guys support us is an overwhelming feeling.'

Slovenka, if you don't hear from GySgt Deniz today, let me know.  I mailed him a snail mail letter on 11/13, he got it on 11/22 and replied by e-mail immediately.

    Lilly,

Thank You for Your info.  I received similar e-mail this morning (I received six names.)  I hope that there were enough people replying to his request to cover all his needs.  Also, I let him know that if necessary we would help with any "gap" he minght have.

    Thank You again.

Good morning everyone!  It seems like GySgt Deniz was busy typing emails yesterday!  How wonderful to hear from him!

In my email response I did direct him to this thread - we'll see what happens!  One of my gift recipients wishes was for a phone card - I have requested info on what type would be best to send and will post it here when I hear back.

    Time to go shopping!

Did anyone else have a problem opening the attached names with their e-mails? It sounds like I got the same e-mail as the rest of you however I couldn't open the attachment to get my names. I sent him an e-mail requesting that he possible send the names another way, just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they were able to figure it out. I'm not very computer literate. I have 4 names out there somewhere and really want to help.

    Hi Holly!

I didn't have any problems opening the attachment.  Are you using a mac or pc?  Did you get any messages on a pop up screen when you clicked on the attachment?  I know just enough to be dangerous so I don't know how much help I'll be but I'm willing to try!

I'm sure GySgt will get back to you as soon as he can!

    Hey all!

I did get an email back from GySgt regarding phone cards.  His exact words are "any one will do - they all work".  I know the military exchange cards are the best value but I don't know how quickly they are shipped once purchased.

I also pointed him over here - maybe he'll stop by!

    Happy shopping!

    Kristen,

Thanks for trying to help, I'm just as dangerous as you are but know very little and the husband wouldn't be to happy if I managed to crash the computer. My computer kept saying the files were incripted and I don't own decoding software (never thought I would need to). He sent them to me again in a normal e-mail style so I have my names and will be shopping on Black Friday for my guys. Thanks again. Oh and the numbers that I have are in the 130's so if he is going in order from 1 he may just have pulled this off. Great job junkies.

    Holly
