    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

We had a complete design sessionp wth something like a virtual whiteboard or spreadsheet where peeople could go place their headcount in the appropriate column (letter writer, package sender, etc.) and could move their headcount as needed.  This little design would require the supporters to update and would use the honor system, but it sounded like a simple solution.  (from a users perspective).  Not sure that it's really simple to implement, but I think the supporters would keep it up dated or atleast the majority would. At least this made the commute for Wed seem short and kept my mind off the crazy drivers.  Big Smile

    ChristyInPA:
I wish there was some way of separating out old requests from new ones (post-updates), but I know y'all work with what you've got! Gotta maximize donation value and there are bigger fish to fry.  My dream wish would be separating "requested for letters" versus "requested for packages" along with a log of when requests were made, but...

Christy, There is! The contacts update the Anysoldier site a minimum of once every 60 days. All of the names on this thread can be searched up in the "Where to Send" section and their requests/updates are posted most recent at the top. Anything updated/posted on the thread here is just done by a supporter, so list away to your hearts content. Color code em if ya like :)

    Hope that helps. Shelly

Thanks, Shelly, but... I meant in the Where to Send List, not here in this thread.  And tracking databases is what software is for! LOL   Just writing down all 2365 contacts' names to START the tracking would be a big job.  I guess my main point was that it's too bad there aren't enough donations coming in to afford reprogramming needed to make it easier to trend who's being supported and who just has a lot of address requests. :)

I just received a very nice email with pictures from SSG Juan Ybarra thanking me for the box I sent.  It took a little over a week to get to them.

SGT JON OWENS, 6/4, 7 req. Afghan. Original post: April 21.  Looks like they've only gotten one response.  They are looking for snacks, cigs. and anything to remind them of the U.S.

James J. MacInnis looks like he could use some extra help given conditions, 6 req, 26/0 GA posted 6/19.

    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

    I just picked-up James J. MacInnis,

1 cooler, 2 coffee pots and laundry soap shipping direct from Sears on Monday. I have Starbucks coffee beans just donated to our local VFW that were generously shared with me to support my contacts. I'll get him beans and a grinder and sugar and creamer and some snacks out in the mail Monday.

Thanks for bringing him to our attention

    Pam

As of 6/16, SPC Donald Dillon, Jr., had 10 requests but had received only one box.  He originally signed up on 2/27 -- 4 months ago.  I notice today that he has 12 requests, one of which was me.  I'm packing him a "healthy snack" box along with coffee, magazines/books and a few toys.
