    RONNIE MAYS

Well, this is just so awesome - heard from the 3rd contact that we sent pkgs. to on 9/11.  I wanted to let anyone know who was thinking about picking up Mays that I had asked him about the confusion over whether he did or didn't have females in his unit, and he wrote back that he has NO females, even though the info on his AS page shows 4 females.  We only sent them foot warmers, magazines and just a few snacks until we could find out more.

Oh, and I forgot to say that Mays actually apologized for being so late in replying because he had been on R&R in the states - we had just sent the pkg. to them in A'stan on 9/11, and got his email on 9/23  !!!  Can you believe that?

We just got another box out to Schreffler with snacks and 4 pair knit gym shorts.  The other two boxes we sent only had snacks.  He still showed only 7 address requests when I checked a couple of days ago, so I suspect there is a possibility they could use some additional support if anyone is looking to pick up someone else.

I'm having a challenging time posting this morning, so if all of a sudden twelve replies to this appear, my apologies!

I'm glad your boxes to Mays got through.  I sent him one on 8/23 but didn't hear anything which makes me think the box went astray.  Maybe while he was on R&R?  I hate that!  But I'm glad he's getting stuff.

Karen, don't fret if you don't hear from someone who was on R&R - they sometimes give their unit permission to open the packages, and they may fail to write down the info from the box.  I know they got our name a bit off, like he was trying to read someone else's henscratch, because we send printed business cards with our contact info on it.

Gran, I'm glad you got some clarification from Mays. I have him as a contact too but have not heard back from him but I only sent a package the first week in Sept. So it may not have arrived yet or someone else got it during R&R. Either way, I'm hoping they get their mail! Diane

    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

We also sent a box to Ronnie Mays on 8/24 and he sent a thank-you e-mail yesterday.  We sent 8 hand-knitted caps among other things and he said they would definitely need those this winter.  In my reply I mentioned that my friend who knitted the caps also creates warm throws, and he jumped all over that offer!  He also wants carpet samples which I get free from a local carpet shop.

    Happy Friday!

I picked up his request on 8/12 and sent 2 boxes on 8/25.  Have been getting supplies together and have stuff for 2 to 4 boxes to go out by end of this week.  Figured because he only requested tobacco products, he wouldn't get many takers for his address.  Being a smoker myself, I actually look for those guys.

I got Jason Sanders address today and am doing a female box with body wash, shampoos, etc. It will get mailed either Sat or early next week.  I can only do the 1 box though from this paycheck. Will get a second one out in 2 weeks if I can.

Looks like he needs lot more support  - I was only  #6.

    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

I picked up Jason Sanders this am.  I've got quite a bit of ebony hair products I can send for the women and can get boxes out to him today.  I remember seeing that request when it was new.  Does anyone have any idea what Snakes he is talking about?  Never mind.  It's got to be snacks.  It's early and I'm not through with my coffee.  I'll be awake in a few minutes.  What the heck am I doing at the site at this ungodly hour???  I think I am getting addicted.
