    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

I'm going to have to add another name to the list...Allen D. Allard (males: 10, females: 2). They signed up on August 14, and in two months they say they've only received one package (they updated today). Unfortunately, I can't take on another unit at this time. :( I wish I could help everyone!

I'll get a couple or three boxes out to him Monday.  I was packing boxes anyway and will do what i can for him and team.

I also picked up Allard and will be sending a package out on Monday. He had 4 requests when I first saw his posting, I was number 5 and he now has 9. I think Allard and his group of 12 will soon be feeling the AS love.

I was the 5th to pick up Lombardi.  Sent a pkg of tobacco prods on 10/5 and heard from him on 10/20.  Great kid.  Funky address, but I checked and it is legit.  Sent a 2nd pkg of snacks on the 23rd.

I thought that was funny that Lombardi mentioned not knowing if he was kin to Coach Lombardi!!  I can't stay away from here

but I keep wanting to take on more contacts.LOL   Right now I have all I can support.  I do have one coming home

next month so I'm sure I'll be  picking up another.

I also have a contact asking for  tobacco products .    I'm hoping to work on that Friday(pay day  Yeah!!)

Michael L. Favor, 38/1 - 9 req. Afghan.  first post Sept.5.  Favor just updated today and writes that they have received just one package.  They would appreciate hygiene, sunscreen, laundry soap, nutritious snacks.  I'm at my max, but hoped someone might be able to pick them up.

Carlos Cardoza.  5 requests 41 soldiers.  Need everything.  Rain thru hole in tent ruined clothes, etc.  Many soldiers with bad colds.  Eating mostly MREs.

    Re: 2009 overlooked contacts

I just had a package sent to McDaniel returned as well.  The first 2 (one for the males, one for the females) were not returned, but the one sent 10/6 was...how strange.  I will forward this to AS support for follow up.

Update 11/9-I talked with the USPS (very nice local clerks) and she said the acronyms on the package meant that the addressee was unknown.  Maybe moved?  She also said that if I put Any Female Soldier (women's box in this case) instead of return to sender, it would be given to a female in the unit.  This is where we normally put chaplain with the box address.  This is interesting since I thought that was not allowed without a person's name as well.

I just 'searched' phone cards for Afghanistan and there are many contacts there with hundreds in their unit/connections and very few requests.  Check out Wood Lemon who has 15 requests for 450 men and 75 women, and Jason Smith who has 37 requests for 1000 contacts--just to name 2 of those listed.

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the site. I noticed yesterday that SSG Fernando Sanchez mentions that he has received no contact from anyone. Requested address for him is 14. Maybe his address is wrong?? I just sent boxes to two different groups yesterday. I'll try to send SSG Sanchez something soon.

I posted this already, but probably did it wrong . . . sorry!

Thanks for highlighting this request. Two of my previous contacts are no longer viable so I'll send a pkg out ASAP, too. Hopefully he'll soon be feeling the AS love!

Karen, for the alt delivery box on the customs form, i put a specific name if i have one, but if i don't i always fill in "command to distribute" never had one come back, don't know if any have ever actually gone to command to distribute though.

Just noticed Jeremiah Parnell (10,2) 5 requests since July. (he has no internet access so his mom posts on his behalf). Just looking for snacks  and hygeine.
