    Re: Quilting Bee: specific fabric

Hi Nice to meet you too Anne Marie, I am still a bit unsure of what I am to do. Any specific material, theme, can it be machine stitched. I have never quilted before so I need a little instruction before I proceed.I can sew just never quilted.

    Thanks for any info!

    Just a baby bee here...

    Deni and Mary Anne-

Sorry took me so long, I FINALLY got it together to mail the squares to you both.  I hope they get there in time!  Things have just been up in the air lately, and I just couldn't get my brain cells firing all at once it seemed like.

    Thanks

I almost have all my squares ready to sew together! I'm so excited! I should have it finished by this Thursday evening. Do I need to add batting and a back piece? Forgive me if my quilting terms are wrong.. it's been a while. :) I plan on adding a second layer of fabric to the back piece of the square so that my embroidery threads are covered.

Please contact me through email or pm.   I would like to talk with you about your project.  How many squares are you sewing together?   Are you making a whole quilt?  If you are, then yes, please add batting and a backing.  If you use fleece then you won't need batting.

         Thanks,

I am trying to put together an 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 square with at least 1/4 inch seam allowance around it for the Memorial quilt. I feel positive with the way it is turning out!  Since I hand embroidered my own pattern onto the fabric, I thought I should cover the back up. I cannot contact you through email. My computer hard drive was hit with a power surge and I lost everything last weekend, including all my email and addresses. Please send me another email so I can save your address again. Thanks!

I love the quilt! It was so exciting to show my friends and family the square I made in the finished quilt. I mentioned this forum and all the "Bees"! Lol! I can't wait to help out with another quilt! What's next?

    Re: Quilting Bee

     Happy New Year everyone.

I hope you all are doing well and getting a good start on the new year.

We have several quilts in the pipeline to begin work on.  One or two memorial quilts are being discussed, along with one or two for contacts who are deployed, and a couple of baby quilts are in there also.

Any one is invited to join us, it's always an open door.

    Re: Quilting Bee

    Hello Forum members and Bees:

The list of quilts is as follows -

    1. one memorial quilt,  I'll take extra squares for future quilts. Angel themed and 8.5 x 8.5 inch sized. Send squares to me.

    2. one Marine quilt - ideas can include patriotic or Marine themed squares. 8.5 x 8.5 inch sized. Send squares to me.

    3. one Soldier quilt - ideas can include patriotic, Army,  he loves music, esp. guitar, Christian faith, a daddy to 3 boys. 8.5 x 8.5 inch sized.  Send squares to Paulette.

    4. one baby boy quilt -  send squares the size of  6.5 x 6.5 inches.   Send squares to MaryAnne.

    5. one pink quilt -  anything girly for a female.  8.5 x 8.5 inch sized.    Send squares to Paulette.

Anytime, feel free to send extra squares along with the requested ones.  That way we have a stash on hand.

If you send a square bigger than what we need, make sure it can be cut down to size.  The quilt I am working on now had one square I couldn't justify in cutting down. It took me 4 extra hours to build up the other 14 squares to match it's size.  I want to get these quilts out in a timely fashion so please help me do that.

The exception to that request are the memorial squares that Jackie personalizes.  I build the quilt around the square she sends to me.

When sending squares to MaryAnne, Paulette, or myself, include a card for the quilt recipient if you like.  We include all notes in with the quilt when it's mailed.

If you need more information, feel free  to get in touch with me by email, pm,  or respond to this thread.

I just found out that Michael's and JoAnne's will accept each others coupons.  I can't believe I didn't know that!  The only stipulation is that you can't use Michael's coupons on fabric at JoAnne's.

Question: Is there a particular color scheme for the baby boy quilt? Pastels only, or are primary colors okay.

I will also need to know where to send the baby boy quilt square when finished. Big Smile
