    My newest sister is home!

I have posted before about SFC Bridget and how we bonded over countless IM sessions to the point where we now call each other Sister.  I am happy to report she is HOME, got home on Tuesday and called me last night!  We had a nice, long conversation

The day before she arrived back at her post in the States, I had a large box waiting for me when I got home from work.  Bridget sent me a flag that had flown over her FOB in Afghanistan, a set of her uniform patches - name, unit, campaign patch - and a traditional Afghanistani bedspread - very pretty but kinda smelled funky!  She included a note to WASH it first - no kidding!  When she was home on leave the end of the year, she met my 2 best soldier support buddies and she sent them gifts too.  She is so thoughtful.  And I have a new sister and friend for life!

Lilly, that's wonderful that your new sister is home.  I am heading out the door to travel to Ft. Campbell to greet my son, who will be arriving on Saturday morning from Afghanistan. It will be a surprise for him as he doesn't think his dad and I can get away to be there, but we haven't seen him in over a year so we are going!.  He will also be seeing his 5month old son, whom he hasn't seen since he was 5 days old, and his lovely wife, of course. How exciting.......It is amazing how they become our family in no time at all.  Those gifts (and the friendship) are something you will cherish the rest of your life!
