? can I mail Cigars to my troops?

Is there a problem with me mailing cigars?   Can only cigar sellers mail them?   My USPS folks today were a little confused, and I don't want my packages to get busted in customs.....and I HOPE the bunch I already SENT don't have a problem!!  Not sure if it it a USVI or a USPS issue.....any suggestions appreciated.

     THANKS

You can absolutely, positively mail cigars to your troops!  And they will probably go GA-GA to get them!  You cannot mail lighters or lighter fluid.  But cigars, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco are all fine.

And yes, you can mail them yourself, does not have to be shipped through a vendor if you buy online unless you want to.  When I have ordered by phone, I always say they are for Soldiers and every single time the vendor has thrown in extra cigars!

I insure my packages to prevent pilfering so you might want to do that with something as popular as smokes!

Hmmmmmmm Donna........I am wondering if it is a US Virgin Island issue!!!!????    I believe plenty of us US (continental US) residents have sent cigars......but I'm thinking it might be where you are.   No doubt the USVI, Guam, PR and other territories might have restrictions on sending things like that..........Hmmmmmmmmm

I agree with Lilly......no lighters, fluids, matches and the like........but this has me stumped........have you tried to search it on yahoo or google??

I looked online and did not find mention on the customs site or the usps site.   Cigarettes are very in-expensive down here and I know there was a problem with folks mailing them to the states and the whole tax issue.  (glad I quit smoking BEFORE I moved down here...too cheap....Would be hard to quit here)

I am going to go to the Cigar store down town and talk to the guy there about it.  (besides, he sells chocolate, and i am SURE i need some of that!)  I was meaning to hit him up when I needed to restock my cigars instead of buying online next time.  I re-packed and re-wrote the customs form.....LOL...."self care items".... with a few others listed, but not the smokes specifically.

We'll see how this goes......if it does not work I will have to pack them and mail them stateside when I go up next time.  I split up the order among a bunch of guys so I can't send to one address when buying online.   I have mailed 5 pkgs with Cigars specifically listed and no-one ever said anything before today.Hmm

    Thanks for the help!
