my name is Kathy Penich-Garrross, my son can not tell you what got him through the tough times because he was killed on october16,2008, in afghan. when ever we talked he told me what was getting him through the days was taking care of his guys, he was a Sargent and a team leader. He made sure his guys were receiving packages and letters by asking organizations to help them and they did.  he is missed by all his troops and us. his name is Sargent John Penich, 1-26 inf, vipers, they were in ristipo, the worst place to be. to sum it up john got through his days caring about others and knowing he was never alone on ground or from up above.       In loving memory of my boy;    Kathy Penich-Garross
