    Click n ship

    Hi all,

Finally got up enough nerve to try my hand at the Click n ship.....I'm a fan!  I print the labels with postage at home, prepare my customs forms and drop in the box at the post office.  So far, no problems.  It sure beats standing in line at the post office.

I received word that my first box had arrived.  I am waiting to see if the other 2 got there as well.

Are you using the multi-copy customs forms?  What happens with the clerks having to stamp them and remove their copy and your copy?  I have never used the click n ship, and can't figure it out.

I'm eager to find out about this too!

I've got a dozen boxes set for 7 or 8 contacts I put together in the last four days and I wanted to get them all out on Friday... Looking online it SEEMS as though I can fill out customs forms online (they even make them APO/FPO-specific, I was looking at it going "For goodness sake, how am I gonna select a city and state?"  but the drop-down menus for City only list "APO and FPO"  and for State it lists "AA, AE, and AP" so they actually got that covered!)  And it's slightly cheaper, it seems - $11.50 versus $11.95 per package...  AND my mail carrier will pick them up at my house on his regular route so I don't have to haul them all to the Post Office.

    Hmmmmm...

If no old hands have any warning advice about this (and if so, please tell me!), I'm REALLY going to have to get up the nerve to do this - saves me time, money, gas, and energy!

You can do it the same way any other non-postal service place does it....run a copy for your records or tear the last page off.  As far as the post office, they can take the forms out of the plastic jacket do whatever it is they need to do and return the form to the jacket.

So far it is working for me.  I might not recommend it for new folks who are used to how to fill things out or what is allowable to send, etc. but I've been doing this a long time and think I've got it straight....LOL.  I hope so anyway.  No packages have been returned to my doorstep so I'm thinking I am okay.  Sure saves time.  Post Office isn't too far from my house, so I can stop in on my way to whereever, even if it is after hours.  Just drop the boxes in and go.

    How do you weigh them?

On a scale here at home. However, my post office has a scale available in the self-serve area that you can weigh boxes before you send.

    Hi Krewe Captain,

Have you been able to figure out how to get more than 1 page of the customs form on a piece of paper when you print it?  I create the customs forms online, but when I print them I can only get one page of the form on each piece of paper so I basically waste the bottom half of the paper.

Actually, I haven't.  I have been handwriting the customs forms.  I will tell you that at the UPS Store they only print on 1/2 of the paper too.  So, maybe there isn't a way....Sad

Thanks Krewe Captain.  Guess I'll just keep using the bottom half as note paper or to write down what I put in the boxes.
