Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck
I've been sending to them, too -- primarily hygiene items, including baby wipes. However, the most recent box (shipped this past Saturday), was toothpaste, toothbrushes and plastic toothpicks, some magazines -- and Yeay!! some AA and AAA batteries.
In his most recent post (just up today) -- those are one of the items he mentions as Desperately needed, along with Red Bull/Monster energy drinks, single packet drink mixes, and cigarettes and copenhagen dip.
Semper Fi, Marines -- God bless you -- God bless all our troops!

Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck
I just put two boxes in the mail full of baby wipes, batteries, hygiene items, drink powder and snacks (seperate boxes for hygiene and food) . Try to send a couple of boxes every other week. Glad to know others are also sending.
Did anyone else get about 14 emails that GySgt Steven J. Washecheck had updated his page? I did, half of them went in my inbox and then the other half went to my junk folder.

I also requested Gerald E. Pirk's address when he first posted, and as I wrote his address down it looked very familiary. Soon I realized his address is the same as Washechek's. I have made several contacts from this unit. It's kind of weird when they reply since I don't know which care package or letter they received, via Washechek or Pirk. Regardless, I am honored that these Marines, as busy as they are, have taken the time to reply to me.

Anna -- yes -- I got a lot of update notifications yesterday afternoon and evening for his page, too. I e-mailed support@anysoldier.com to report it. Guess something went kerflooey with the auto-notification LOL.

Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck
Hi,
On the CNN story, they reporter was asking the Marine if he had seasoning to make his meal taste better. Is there anything other than Tabsco that would make the meals better? I've been sending Tabsco sauce, but when I saw the report I realized there might be other options.
Sending some boxes out to them on Monday and thought I could include additional seasonings if there is something else that they like.. Thank you all for the updates. Have been sending them boxes full of travel size hygiene products and tons of baby wipes so it's good to hear the updates.

Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck
Heard about Bacon Salt (which isn't bacon at all and actually is Vegan). It's expensive though. Albertsons has it for $3.99/sm bottle in spice section this week, but it's usually $5. I've sent some horseradishy sauce and the little containers of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing that don't need refrigeration. And, of course, there's mustard, catsup and soy sauce...

Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck
Anyone know when mail should be cut off to Washechek and his group? According to the info posted on his AS page, his unit is scheduled to return late November.
I mailed them a box today of goodies. I hope they get to them and are all eaten before they leave to come home.

GySgt Steven J. Washecheck...URGENT NEEDS !!!!
I would not stop sending until the End of the First Week of Nov...if infact they are pulled out of Afganistan...
They are in "URGENT NEED" of...Canned Fruits...AA & AAA Batteries... Plus any Hi Protein Foods/supplements...No Diet Foods...Hygeine Products. As these Marines have lost on the average of 40# each...per their not being supplied with hot Meals or Fresh Fruits...by their rear supply people who are getting 3 hots a day and Fresh Fruits etc...
These Marines have NOT had a Hot Meal since they started Operations !!!!
This is a True Fact...

Re: GySgt Steven J. Washecheck...URGENT NEEDS !!!!
I wish I'd known about the fruits. However, what I did send should help them with their weight issue ... oreo cakesters (?), honey buns, cookies, beek jerky, granola bars, trail mix, water flavorings, and lemon drops. I also included a letter and a card signed by the ladies in my office along with a crossword puzzle book.
I'm going to work on sending them another care package later this week. I'll try to pick up some cups of noodles, tuna and fruit for them.
I had to cut back on sending care packages for a month due to my kids starting back to school (school supplies and new clothes about broke me), and with work I've been super busy taking care of my veteran students utlizing their GI Bill Educational benefits. So, I haven't sent them a package in a while, but I have been writing to each one that has responded to previous packages. I haven't heard from any of them in a while, but I know they are going through hard times. Now that I'm able to send packages again, I'm going to step up the efforts the next few weeks.
Thanks for the update.
