    my contact requests good coffee.

i can think of the obviuos like creamers (powered-too hot for liquid), flavored splenda, sweet and low to include in the box but what else?

i know junkies always have more ideas.

One thought - our grandson said that when he was in Iraq, they used the hot cocoa mix in their coffee - voila - coffee house supreme mocha latte.  I would make sure that it wasn't the ones that have marshmallows in them - that might make for strange coffee - lol!

Have you tried the Boca Java site? I’ve also gotten a good response with the Eight O’Clock brand. There’s a whole thread on it around here.

Some folks also like the GFIC International coffees in the tins. BJs has them in the huge sizes.

Depending on where they are and what they have access to - GFIC also makes a coffee stick (similar to the drink mixes for water but you need milk) for use in cold milk called Cappoccinno Coolers and another called Lattee Mochas. Both come in vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate flavors. I’ve gotten really good responses esp in warm weather from contacts that I’ve sent them too - ones off course on big bases that have access to both milk and ice.

Similar stuff. The latter is supposed to be mixed with a blender but works just fine if you whip it up with a fork, spoon or anything else you have handy. To go with these - any one's choco syrup that will dissolve in cold stuff.

Insulated paper coffee cups with lids. Hmm - yeah I’m a coffee hound. Can’t send enough of itJ .

Oh yeah - almost forgot - blank greeting cards with coffee stickers on them. Michael’s and A.C. Moore have the coffee stickers.

    Ann

Edit:  Thought of something else while finishing packing the last care package of the week:).  A.C. Moore, which has a 40% off all wood backed stamps this week, has 'coffee stamps' for making greeting cards including the 'give me enough caffeinne' quote stamp.

Also cool for a coffee box would be the coffee art images from that coffee shop in the northwest that makes coffee art images in every cup of coffee they sell.  The images are somewhere out there on the net.  If you do  a google search on 'coffee art' you can probably find them  One of my contacts originally sent them to me but of course I now can't find them.  They are really neat and have been making the rounds for some time now.

Edit 2:  black coffee (demitasse) w/anissette flavoring - don't forget to include tums for anyone not used to this form of coffee:)

Accompaniements for coffee - think someone already mentioned biscotti, donuts (Hostess, Little Debbie's - BJs has a bunch of this stuff at the back of their coffee aisle. And of course - CIGARS!

BJ's has a powdered Cappuchino in a can. The brand is Victorian Inn. My nephew and his buddies liked it. Just add water and ice for iced cappuchinos. Good for those hot Iraq summers! You can also send biscotti to dip in hot coffee, so good !

I printed out the information about the consumers report coffee taste test.

I think I will send them a can of Maxwell House, Folgers, and eight o'clock so they can have their own taste test.  I better remember filters too.

    any other suggestions???

You may want to consider adding some local coffee mugs (Roll Tide, I Love NY,etc).   Things do get broken and I'm sure your concact may have the occassional visitor.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, "good coffee" means a dark roast Millstone, Starbucks, Seattles Best, or good Beans that can be purchased in 3# bags at Costco.  If you read the costco/kirkland brands closely some say roasted by Starbucks.  Here a 3# bag of good beans can be purchased for about $13.99 and I recently purchased a grinder at Walmart for $15.00.  East coast people commonly refer to Dunkin Donuts as "good coffee".  :-)

I am posting this site because it has different coffee coupons and some for other soldier friendly items.  There is the now famous Eight O'Clock coffee among them.  It is a site for Ralph's Grocery Store, but they are manufacturer's coupons.  You just check the coupons that you want and print those.

    Re: coffee themed box

In the coffee boxes I've done, I've included:

    • Regular ground coffee (usually either starbucks, green mountain or dunkin donuts)
    • Regular tea bags
    • a box of Swiss Miss
    • Sugar Packets
    • Equal Packets
    • regular coffee mate
    • vanilla and hazelnut flavored coffee mate
    • plastic stirrers
    • Dixie coffee cups with lids

I totally agree with sending coffee filters, but it can get tricky if you don't know what kind of coffee maker they have, between the different sizes and shapes.  Can you find that out/do you already know?

Also, I have put the coffee box together and for a soldier who I knew lived on the airport base and got my mail quickly, I added a couple boxes of Entennmann's donuts and a NYTimes & Local newspaper, so he could have a Sunday Morning Coffee just like home. :)

ETA: I have never sent True Lemon, but I just saw the thread about it, and if you do end up sending tea bags True Lemon and Honey would be a great addition to the box.  Why oh why did I never thing of that--I have True Lemon at home! Duh!
