What kinds of things does a PX stock?  I have a contact who says their PX is very small and is usually sold out of items before his soldiers get a chance to get to it.

I have sent most all the items that he has posted but was wondering what else a PX stocks for the soldier.  He is not asking for food so I ASSUME that it does not stock food items.  Does anyone know what it does stock?

Any info welcome at this point.  I have a box going out next week for him / them.

The PX on Army Bases is like a Walmart and has different depts like electronics, civilian clothes, underwear, health and beauty products,  household goods, snacks but the commissary is more for groceries.

On the outposts, from what I've heard, the PX is small and makeshift, sometimes a travelling truck thing, sometimes none at all. And they have VERY limited stock, maybe some deoderant and a magazine, that runs out super fast. I dont think they have much for food if anything.

From what I have gathered reading different soldier requests, the PX is sort of a generic term and what it sells varies from place to place.  A PX on a large base might carry a vast array of items but still runs out simply because of the numbers of people stationed at the base or passing through on their way to somewhere else.  A small outpost might carry only a few items.  I would not worry too much about the PX.  Anything the guys and gals are in serious need of they will usually ask for and if you send something they don't need much of they send it on to others that can use.  Not much goes to waste.   Remember also that we can't really control what or how much they get.  A person might have only 1 request on here but that request might be a church who is sending them 50 boxes.   Just have fun with it.  The guys will love you no matter what's in the box.

Thanks for the responses.  Clarification is what I'd hoped for and and have received.
