    Can I send...........................

    Hi all,

One of my contacts is asking for supplies for a local school and I was wondering if crayons would be ok to send.  I wasn't sure if they'd melt in the heat or not. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hi, Kat --

From what I know/been told -- now is not a good time to send crayons -- it's too hot.  You can try the "leave 'em in a parked car in the sun" test and see -- but I'm bettin' by the time they make it to where they're going, they'll have been sitting on pallets in Really hot sun for days, if not weeks.

For now, I'd suggest colored pencils along with some of those little sharpeners.  Send the crayons in the fall and winter -- same way we time the chocolate shipments Stick out tongue

But it's almost time to stock up on crayons, etc. Target had just a few school things out on Monday. I haven't been to WalMart lately. The Back to School prices (especially at the big boxes) are SO much better than the rest of the year. I never seem to buy enough. (One time before I was a junkie, I sent 100s of boxes of Rose Art crayons that WalMart had reduce to 5 cents to our church mission in Haiti. Only spent about $30. I think they controlled their inventory better the next year.)

was at Walmart the other day.  Roseart crayons were $0.20 and Crayola were $0.25 I think.  Spiral, one subject notebooks with 70 sheets paper were $0.15.  Colored pencils were $0.75.  Washable markers were $1.  2 packs of glue sticks were $.025.  I quietly stocked up for my kids and soldiers for a while and intend to go back for more before the school rush here in a week or so since payday with OT was yesterday. Many stores will be having deals, but I bet quantities will be limited.
