Last night I had the chance to meet GySgt Joe Aguilar when he and his family came to my house for dinner. What a treat it was to meet his 4 boys (!) and GF and see his slideshow of Iraq pictures. It was fascinating to learn a bit about what it was like training the Iraqi police. I especially enjoyed his stories of how, when the USMC didn't supply his team with the necessary radios or whatever they needed, he knew how to 'scrounge' them for his guys. And for all the 180+ AS supporters who sent GySgt Aguilar and his men boxes & letters this past year, I can say he was very, very appreciative of AS support! He's a great guy (very modest, well spoken & funny) and it was a dream come true for me to actually meet one of my contacts and do something special for him.

 Awesome! It is such an honor and a privilege to get to meet one of the Warriors we supported during deployment. Gunny Joe was one of mine, too - it's good to know he and his men were well taken care of by the Support Junkies and that they appreciated all efforts made to show the gratitude we all have for our Troops. I'm sure you gave him a big hug on behalf of the rest of us...LOL!! (I know when I got to meet two of my contacts and feed them a home-cooked meal, they got big hugs!)
