Phone cards and/or other gift cards

Have people here sent phone cards and gift cards?

    I have a couple questions.

First, which stores do you think are good to send gift cards from?  I understand that some of the troops use them to order things online.

Second, since we have to list everything on a customs form I was wondering if theft is a problem with phone cards and gift cards?

Do you have to fill out a customs form for envelopes too, or just boxes?

     Thank you.

I haven't sent gift cards, but I send phone cards in an envelope with a nice card.  You don't have to fill out a customs form for letters or cards.

As for where to buy gift cards from, I'm sure your contacts or other supporters will have suggestions.  Since they won't be physically using the gift cards, you can copy down the amount and the card number (plus pin if there is one) and just send them the information.  I've done that with an iTunes gift card.  Just copied down the info and sent it in an email.  There's no worries about it getting lost or stolen that way.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand.

ATT has a corner on the market with phone centers there.  The soldiers know to dial the customer service number where they are connected to a base in the U.S. which allows them the domestic rate instead of international.  We buy our cards at Target when they have the $30/600 min. ones on sale for $16.

We never put 'phone cards' on the customs form.  We are usually rather brief and state:  snax and personal products, books, magazines, whatever.  We usually stick the phone card inside a letter inside the box.
