    Scott Speicher

They have finally recoverd and identified remains of Michael Scott Speicher. He was the first American lost in the Gulf War.

I remember when it happened, I was living in Jacksonville then, and it was all over the news and papers. We all went to prayer vigils and things like that. At least now the family knows and they can bring him home.

I was living in Orange Park at the time Scott Speicher was shot down.  That could have very easily been one of my friends.  I'm so glad the family will have closure.  I can't imagine how they must've felt each time he was "sighted" or "initials found in prison".  About 5 years or so when I went "home" there was still a large banner at the foot of the Buckman Bridge "Bring Scott Speicher home".

Thats where I was- Orange Park.  I drove that bridge nearly every day and Iremember driving past a billboard, or banner.  I have not been there in years, but that is a community with military roots.  They would keep his name out there, for any information they could get.  I hoped they would find out what happened, I just can't believe it took this long.

I am so happy they have found his remains and can return them to his family.  They have had a long road.....

Thanks to the Government for not giving up in their search for him.
