    Address Change

I requested an address last night, after I packed the boxes to send to this sailor. I checked it again today before I went to the Post Office, so the packages are gone, and I got an email tonite updating the contacts address? Has anyone had this happen to them? Will the packages get there?

Sorry guess I posted too quick, the contact put in the same line 2x , it is removed on the updated address, and that is how I sent it , with only one of the lines on the form.

    Re: Address Change

Address corrections are often made within the first couple of weeks or more of the troops' arrival, frequently from misunderstanding or change by the military postal service, so I usually start collecting items for their boxes and hold onto them for a little while after they sign up to AS if they are very new to their location, then request their address unless it seems to be a dire situation like the ones that are building new bases and have no access to anything they need.  The young people on their first tours seem to have little idea and sometimes bad info on what they will have available or not.

    Re: Address Change

    AOMOM,

Gran's advice (below) is excellent. But an address can change anytime too. I have had it happen too where I sent off a couple of boxes and found out the same or next day that the address changed (grr!). When it last happened in June I figured 'those boxes are a lost cause'...then just yesterday I got the nicest email from the contact in Iraq saying in part:

Hello from Iraq.  I wanted to tell you thank you very much for the packages.  They arrived here safe and sound.  I also want to thank you for your support.  I was happy to have received your boxes and they were distributed amongst our platoon.  They were huge morale boosters.

Don't worry about your misaddressed boxes now (too late for that), you may get a happy ending too. Smile
