I don't know that story about the Diamondbacks ballpark. Now I'm interested. I have never been to that area, but if I go I will try to get to a game there.
I went to Minneapolis this year and saw a Twins game in the "dome". This is their last year playing in the dome. They are building a gorgeous new outdoor ballpark right in the city. However, there is no plan for a roof. After the weather we had in Philly for last year's World Series I don't think an always open air ballpark in Minneapolis is a good idea! People drive for many hours to go to a game there and it would be heartbreaking to have rained out or rescheduled due to bad weather.
Since baseball games can be so long, it's tough to watch a whole game on tv. Going in person is a lot of fun tough. It's like a social event. Go with friends, good food and beer at the ballpark.
We are really loving our new pitcher Lee and reliever Chan Ho Park is doing well. He is fun to see in person. Just so quick and economical in his movements. You really get a sense of how fast those pitches are if you get to sit anywhere near homeplate. You can hear the loud "smack" as the ball hits the catcher's mitt. You can hear the different sound of the "crack" as Ryan Howard hits another home run. Right now the Phillies have about a 7 or 8 game lead in their division. We are playing the Braves right now.
I work in north Jersey with lots of Mets, Yankees, Giants and Jets fans. They are all geared to the New York teams up there. Where I live we're geared towards the Philly teams.
I don't follow the nba at all. Just don't like it. I have been to games and I don't like the atmosphere either. I enjoy women's college basketball.
I have been to Pittsburgh for women's college bball games at PITT. Loved it. Great arena, great fans, nice City. I would like to go to a Pirates game there sometime. Both the football stadium and the ballpark are right on the River (Allegheny??) with great views of the City.
