Teaming up! Definitely!
Hi, y'all. I haven't posted for quite some time but this one caught my eye! LOL.
As many already know, I operate my package project from a local flea market booth! NICE!
This has allowed others to donate items to send, cash to pay the postage, AND volunteer to pack and lug boxes for me.
Since medical issues have mounted this summer, my loyal donators and volunteers have stepped forward and others have said they are willing to step up also to insure the boxes continue to get to the troops! YEAH! (Hope all these volunteers continue once the medical stuff is done!) It has surely added a whole new dimension to this project.
So to answer your question, YES there are people who support Any Soldier who do team up with others.
For just over two years, I also had access to some great bargains through the auctions held at the market... nothing like getting things at wholesale (or less) prices. Some of the other participants got on board to support my efforts by buying and then donating some of the same things I bought -- boxes of tea bags, coffee, decks of playing cards, etc etc.
It has been an awesome experience to see people realize they too can contribute to supporting our troops in a very simple way. FUNtabulous!
Another "team up" effort was when several of us met for lunch next to Quantico Marine Base back in April... we raised a few hundred dollars for Any Soldier, had a great lunch, and got to meet some really nice folks face-to-face!
It was our very own special "Live Chat Luncheon!" We hope to do something similar in more locations in the future.
Will be glad to discuss particulars in terms of teaming up... Pat's donations of magazines; Georgette's donations of newspaper comics; Mary Lou's donations of newspaper sports pages; Henry and Buzz who find ways to raise money for postage; and the "Carry Brigade" who help get the boxes to the post office!
WHAT A TERRIFIC BUNCH... and these are just the every week contributors... I have many more one- or two-timers!
Take care,
