    Too many boxes!

Last week I ordered 1 package of 10 APO flat rate boxes from the USPS. Today I got my order, and they sent me 4 packages of 25 count boxes! So now I have 100 boxes, and I know there is no way Im going to be able to use them all any time soon. Plus they sent me the wrong customs forms (they sent the little green forms instead of the decleration forms). Has anyone else had this type of problem with the USPS? Im new to the sending out of many carepackages at one time, and to the site, so Im sorry if this has been addressed before and Im just unable to find it!!

    Dixie,

Is it possible that you entered "10" in the box under the choice of 10 boxes?  If so, that would be 100 boxes.  When you choose the 10-pk., you enter "1", and not 10.  We got several cartons of 25 from a woman a couple of years ago when her child ordered and typed it in wrong.  It took us over a year to use all of those because they were all the FRB2 which we don't use as often.  Our post office will take small numbers of boxes when we have too many of one size, but won't take large amounts.  Have you checked to see if they will take at least one box of them off your hands?

Its very possible that I read that wrong on the website. I didnt think of that. I did check with the post office in town and on base, neither have room for any of them. Luckily I do have quite a few friends in town who are planning on sending out carepackages, so theyre going to take some. The rest Im going to see if the Family Readiness Center on base could use them. If not, then Ill just have plenty of boxes over the next year to send stuff out!

    Dixie,

Oops...this has happened to other folks as well.  Here the post offices will take them but I live in an area with a lot of them.  BUT think of this as a brilliant opportunity!  Maybe xerox off a page briefly explaining the AS website and how to send a box.  Tape it to the boxes and start handing them out to anyone who might want to try to send a box.  Maybe drop some off at some local companies or schools.  People just love free things and here you are giving them a box.  With any luck, you may drum up some new supporters!

You have a great idea there.
