    Soldiers need the basics

CSM Robert Wilson posted request for basic personal items lost during recent heavy fighting at remote outpost that has been in the news lately. Eight troops were killed during this fight. Asking for any replacement items we can provide until they can get resupply.

this link was posted to the Korengal valley forum and is better here.  Folks, they lost everything including some of their brothers-news reports say 8 are KIA. There are also news reports that 24 were wounded and some refused to be medevaced to stay and fight.

I think we need to do what we do best guys and rally here AS...they deserve nothing less...I am at work, but have stuff with me going in boxes.  i have extra cash this month.

My first $25 will go to AS, the rest will go to these guys...

I went to that website and got the e-mail address of the lady who is coordinating the collection. She had me send the blankets to a Prof. Connelly in N.C. who in turn has an address of where to send everything so that it gets distributed equally. Does that make any sense how I wrote this?

Please disregard my previous post.  My sister is going to help with postage costs.  She has a lot of pillows and other supplies as well that we will be sending on Thursday.

    God bless all of them.

Hi, Ruth -- Prof Connelly is our old friend Bob from last year when the Dream Team supported the CSHs through CSM Callaghan Smile

And yes, I'm supporting these guys too -- sending socks and hygiene supplies -- Yes

Right now we have one box packed to go out Wed. with a sheet set, a towel, 2 pr. flip-flops, bath soap, fingernail and toenail clippers, 2 tubes shave gel, loofah pads, and one deodorant.  We will wait to see how many packages they actually get before we send another because we had already picked up two new contacts.

K-Mart has Joe Boxer Ultra Plush Sweet Dreamer Standard Pillows for $3.00 each.  These can be shipped and I believe they ship to APO/FPO.  I tried putting in 10 pillows to see how much it would cost to ship and it was $8.95.

They also have twin sheet sets that are "cotton rich" for $6.00/set.  I am going by what the ad says and I do not know how much cotton they contain.  I couldn't find them online, so this may be in-store only.

They also have bath towels, 2/$5.  I don't know the fiber content.Doesn't look like these can be shipped.

They have Cannon Microfleece blankets for $11.99 available for shipping.

There was a $20 off $100 purchase on home fashions bedding or bath coupon in the Sundays paper.  There are exceptions on the coupon, so not sure what would be included.

I have a $5 off $50 purchase for online shopping.  If anyone is interested send me an email with your email address and I will send it to you.

I am posting this in several places because I know there are various units who need help.

    Re: Soldiers need the basics

When I checked with the web site doing the coordinating for the CSM who is sending to the needy troops

EDIT:  this morning the message is:  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - 95% complete as of 7 OCT 1930 hrs.

We packed up one more box to mail Friday with 10 pr. lge., and 14 pr. med. boxer briefs , and reported it to the email person on the web site Wed. for the coordinator for her to add to the count.

My Dentist's office gave me 2 cases of sample toothpaste for donation to troops.  One case has 72 tubes, and the other has 36 tubes.  I was planning on sending it to the CSM, but don't know if they want it.  Any suggestions or recommend needy contact would be much appreciated.

    Ranger,

Two more units in A'stan out of Colorado have asked for supplies for casualties that come through their area:

    Jonathan Jennings

    SPC Jesse A. Chapman
