     Price war between Amazon.com and Walmart.com results in $9 for new novels (hardcover) by best-selling authors.  For example, the following are $9 for pre-order:

    • Pirate Latitudes - Michael Crichton
    • Ford County  - John Grisham
    • Breathless  - Dean Koontz
    • Under the Dome  - Stephen King

    The independent bookstores in my area give me as many books as I want for FREE; these are the promo copies that publishers send several months prior to public release.  They usually refer to the book as an :Advanced Reading Copy".

    Your local VA Hospital will probably accept them as well.
