Hello everyone,

It has been suggested that a thread be started specifically for the 6-4 Cavalry Soldiers (B Troop). They are in remote combat outposts in the Afghanistan mountains that border Pakistan.

It will take a little while to coordinate this thread. We do need to make sure that names of remote outposts are OK to be disclosed, along with the AS Contacts that are there...

Has anyone heard from Patrick Newcomb? He posted December 16 I sent them a three boxes without answer and now they have been dropped from the list. I have this feeling they are still there and they weren't getting much support compared to the other groups in the area. Hate to think of them without much support in such a hostile area.

Has anyone heard from SPC Jose Juarez (Afghanistan)? We sent 7 boxes out to him 6 weeks ago but he is not on the "active" list now. I received an email from him the middle of November and we now have more supplies to send to him. Please let me know if you know anything about his whereabouts or status. Thanks!

I got a call from my sister in-law last night. There has been a slight change to Nick's Address. My sister in-law can't change it and I have written to Marty to see if he can help me to get it changed since Nick can't get on too often to make the change. So I am waiting to here from Marty on this. Or if any of you happen to catch him on IM try to help him to get it done. I was told that if packages are sent to the address listed they will still get there, but will be delayed.

I only know a few contact's of his so I wanted to give the heads up!!

Hello everybody I am new to this,I hope I'M doing this right,We supported Lt. Emerson and his men ,2puppies and the local children thruout his deployment.A few days after he returned to Italy I spoke to him and got the address of his replacement.He also gave me a thumbs up to the packages I had sent and to continue with it(for the troops and locals) I did mail in Aug.2 lge boxes with food and related items,and 2 boxes with school supply,shoes,and toys for the children.I didn't hear from his replacement if the boxes ever got there(I did use the chap.as an alternative.)This weekend I will send out more food and next week hygine items,and handwarmers.I also will ask Lt. S.if it is o.k to give out his address or if he could post on AS.

My family and I saw the news piece that Richard Engel did on Viper company at Korengal Outpost and have put a box of items together they asked for, but when I got to the post ofc they told me that APO AE 09254 is no longer valid. Can someone please give me a valid zip code to send it to. We were told to send it c/o Cpt Jimmy Howell if anyone knows him. But maybe we could send it to any valid zip. I really hope someone can help us. We spent a lot of time putting the box together in hopes that it would brighten their day. We are so moved by their sacrifice and want to do something to show our thanks. We pray for all of our troops everyday and want them to return quickly and safely to their families.

I've been trying to figure out the difference between a Forward Op'g Base and a Contingency Op'g Base....Speicher used to be an FOB, but was renamed a COB due to its size. Does that mean it's bigger than an FOB or smaller?

I had him over in General chit chat about a month ago - but the posts got off the subject - so I am adding him here. He would like LETTERS for his guys as they only get mail once a week.

I have been also sending some small bubble envelopes with little treats and small games or puzzle books (and a handwritten greeting card) inside to him too - about 2 or 3 a week. They have been costing $1.68 to $3.21 to mail first class. (If you are on a low budget then that is a great strategy to go with for any soldier. Just keep it under 13 once for the first class parcel rate to apply.) Today I sent 2 to him (+ 1 to a personal friend) and got out of the post office for around $6.50 - what a deal!!
